Lunging in Halo 4.

I think the melee lunging should be taken out, I can understand if it’s for an Energy Sword or a Gravity Hammer, but it’s rediculous in a close quarters situation when your trying to back away from someone. What do you think community? Lunge or no Lunge?

Have you ever played Halo: CE?

Just make the lunge distance as short as possible, otherwise you’ll see spartans dancing around each other trying to connect a hit

Yes, when it first came out and why?

Have you ever tried to melee your teammate? Lunge is definitely necessary to keep gameplay smooth.

Lets have a look at the clusterfck that was Duke Nukem Foreveralone, it had no lunge, and it’s melee system was crap due to that.

I’ll be happy with some lunge melee, but not something ridiculous like Halo Reach had - Halo 3 had a nice balance. Lunge for power weapons like the sword of course will have to be nicely decent, I don’t want to be swiping at thin air as an enemy chips away at my shields with an Assault Rifle, lol.

You need lunge it may not seem so but it actually makes it more realistic. Its pretty hard for someone to miss someone if there walking straight backwards in real life so thats why they put in lunge so that people wouldnt be constantly swinging and missing the other person.

I agree 100 percent. The lunging is really insane in halo. It’s literally like commando pro.

Halo 3’s commando lunge was too much as well. After playing a lot lately, I finally see the real reason why everyone hated AL so much. Too many people depend on “hey i’ll shoot him for 1 second, then i’ll just tap the melee and shoot forward for an easy kill”.

Reduced, not removed.

I’d say there is a point where you’re close enough to your enemy. At this point when looking into the right direction you should be guaranteed to hit.

I wouldn’t want to end up with a precise hit detection and miss every second slap because I’m too close to react properly to quick movements. (See also: close quarter sniping)

We’ll have to see how 343 handles melee combat. If it gets any weaker or slower everything we say here might be superfluous. (What if assault rifles could kill you in the time of 2 slaps to the face?)

Have you ever played Halo CE? Zero lunge, and melees worked perfectly fine in that game. In fact, they were even more deadly due to the double melee button combo (BLB).

If it was even more deadly then why would you want it back -.-
