I just got an elite controller and I am having a button mapping crisis. I am now questioning using Bumper Jumper which i have used since h3. What are your thoughts on using LT for smartscope rather than right thumbstick? I’ve always been a fan of quickscoping versus no scoping but being outscoped while trying to aim can send your aimer flying if your using the thumbstick. Would using LT help stop this from happening? Then i was thinking this layout:RT: FIRE (hairtrigger)
LT: Smartscope
RB: Melee
LB: Nades
Buttom RP: jump
Top RP: thrust
Bottom LP:Sprint
Top LP:Switch Weapons
Click Right Stick: switch Nades
Click left stick: Crouch
buttons would be mostly duplicatesLook Sens: 6
Look acc: 5
Deadzones: defaultAny suggestions would be appreciated along with your logic so I can see why you prefer that layout! Thank you in advance!
Well using LT always helps to aim under fire, compared to the older thumbstick style. But to be honest you really will have a better time figuring out your own optimal settings. If your comfortable taking a hit in KD or rank, play some arena, lots of action there. Or BTB and Legendary campaign is also good for practicing and finding your sweet spots.
Hey H2 LaKai, I had a lot of trouble figuring this out too. Here’s what I ultimately came up with with the elite controller, this won’t work for everyone but I also had trouble with the scope being on the right stick. Here’s my layout
LT: Jump (odd I know, but with the hair trigger maxed physically and through the app it’s actually very responsive and my left index finger is always resting on the left trigger so I don’t have to think to jump)
LB: Throw a grenade
RB: Reload/weapon pick up (I put this here because I will never be trying to shoot simultaneously with reloading or picking up a weapon so it makes sense to have to take my index finger off the right trigger to do this)
RT: Shoot
Click left stick: Crouch
Click right stick: Sprint (now this was a tradeoff because the right stick is now still included in the long jump/ADS/clamber/thrust combo but seemed to be less of a trade off than making scope the stick)
Top LP: Thurst
Bottom LP: Scope (actually feels relatively natural and leaves the right hand to aim and fire without interruption)
Top RP: Switch weapon
Bottom RP: Melee
My dilemma now ultimately comes from crouch being on the left stick…my crouch strafe/movement during a 1v1 is just not up to snuff with the crouch being on the left stick, but I believe what I have on my paddles are too vital to switch out for clicking the left stick so it’s just something I think I’m going to have to get used to. For comparison, I’m diamond 3 on free-for-all right now and expecting to move up more before the season ends (recently got the elite controller, a headset and gaming monitor which have seriously upped my game). Hope that helps. Like the previous poster said it’s all about what feels right to you, but moving the scope off of the right stick definitely upped my sniper and ADS game
Look sensitivity: 4-5
Look acceleration: 2-3
Inner deadzone: 0
Outer deadzone: 2
With the elite controller I would make the inner deadzone 0. The reasoning behind this is that you will get used to more fine movement - the reticle becomes much more responsive with immediate movement which I think is important (as opposed to having to move the stick a certain way out of the deadzone before you get any responsiveness from the reticle). I decreased my outer deadzone because overall it just gives you a higher range of control before you go into “turning speed.” It also helped teach me to not peg my stick as much when trying to aim.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that switch grenades is mapped to A.
I’m waiting for my Elite to arrive and was actually going to start with a configuration similar to what you suggested.
I’ve been playing default, which has LT for smartlink, and I really like it that way. I use it far less than ADS in other games like Destiny, but something to me feel so good about squeezing left to aim, then right to fire.
Keeping aim, fire, nades, melee, and thrust all reachable without thumbs is ideal, to me at least. I put up with using B for thrusts on a standard, but that’s absolutely going on a paddle as soon as I get my Elite. Switching weapons and reload on paddles might be a good idea too.
