I’ve been seeing a lot of hate about the new “broish” things added to halo from the chatter to the game winning stances. Claims it looks bad because of how “professional” Spartans are but let’s me honest we can all agree that WE halo players revolutionized Teabagging on the console. You won’t 4shot an enemy without slamming your internet balls in his face but 343 killed the image of a Spartan with a victory stance? Now don’t be that guy that says well I dont -Yoink!- I don’t mean to generalize but halo is known for a lot of things and you’d be lying if you said Teabagging isn’t one of them
I just think it looks silly. I don’t care about the Spartan “professionalism” aspect of it or whatever. In my opinion it just seems like a useless animation that adds an air of ridiculousness to something as simple as a game ending.

I complety understand but for every 5 players that could not care less for it there will be 6 that enjoy them. So does it really do harm to the game to many gameplay affecting things to be picky about to make sure we get a bad -Yoink- halo than arguing about what our Spartans does AFTER the game
It’s a little cringey, I’ll give you that. It makes sense to me story-wise though. It’s billed as combat training, one group of spartans vs. another, and it’s all about competition. If you’ve ever played organized sports, even if only at the high school level, it is a very “bro-ish” culture. The mp matches are (in my mind) very similar to a professional sports atmosphere, whether that’s basketball/football/whatever. When your team scores, or wins the game, there’s lots of high-fives, chest bumps, etc, things most people associate with bro culture. Everything about MP leads me to believe that for the spartans, this IS their professional sport. The announcer, the medals, the post-game celebrations, the in-game chatter, and the fact that all of it seems a bit “over the top” makes sense to me if you think about the matches with that mindset.
I had a good chuckle reading your post, OP, but the reason why I don’t quite like it is due to an aesthetic reason. It feels like they straight lifted the personalities from “modern first person shooter, the game” and into Halo - where in my opinion, it doesn’t really mesh that well.
It sticks out like a sore thumb because I always imagined even the most bro-of-bro’s Spartans in Halo to have respect beaten into them. I got the image that the Spartans would take even a loss as a victory because it builds upon their experience, thus, instead of hoarsely shouting “LET’S TAKE 'EM OUT”, they’d more likely say “May the best team win!” and “A well deserved victory by the other team. We’ll get our chance next time.” or “We are victorious! They were worthy adversaries.”
@j0nnyquid
Could not have said it any better. That’s exactly it we arnt defending earth and we do not hate the other side. We can’t compare how Spartans regardless of the generation reacted while at war to how they are reacting after what is essentially a game.

Haha with all the serious post being created a chuckle is good lol. That I can agree with you on not the typical it’s horrible remove it. It’s the same way I picture the army than you get a YouTube video shot in Iraq and they are smacking caming each other lol. But your right i think we all expect Spartans to walk around with a certain swagger the give the ball to the ref after a touchdown swagger " acting like you been here before" which I hope they have in the final game. I don’t know how much work it would take to have preset animation traits cocky noble agressive. Because even if a lot of Spartan IV are ex ODST they can’t all be big headed hell jumpers

Well watching all the endgame celebrations there’s definitely a range of celebrations. If you read what I said up above, it’s being billed (imo) as a very professional combat/spectacle/arena type scenario. Watch any major sport and when cool stuff happens, you have a wide range of celebrations/attitudes. Some guys just wave to the crowd and move on, others have elaborate/swaggering celebrations. The spartans in H5 are much more individualistic than their first gen counterparts, and if you don’t want your spartan to come off as a “bro” you can probably give your spartan a relatively tame celebration (I’m completely guessing here). And again, the mp matches (to me) seem like they’re sort of Monday Night Football-esque, any everything I’ve seen thus far leads me to believe that.
I very much get the feel that this combat training is all about bragging rights for the spartan squads involved in them. Hence some of the more overly cocky attitudes. People celebrate when they win, and if the stakes aren’t life or death (i.e. combat training) then the celebrations/swagger make sense. Athletes in every sport act this way, and if viewed as a “combat sport” or whatever you want to call it, then it fits. Just my opinion.
