I am very happy with Halo 4 as a game, however as a machinima.com director, I am concerned to see that the lowering weapon function only works while stationary, once you begin walking, the character model raises his weapon. Also, we can no longer lower the sword and the turret/hologram trick no longer works.
I know fixing the games issues should be the first and most I portent thing to fix, however there is no doubt that machinima has been an integral part of the halo community and plays a big part to the longitivtiy to the game. So, I hope that eventually 343 can fix these issues for us machinimators.
Thanks!
Listen 343 lowering your weapons is not only good for machinimas, its also tradition since CE. This bug is bothering me and all my fond memories of red vs blue(which is a big contributor to the community). We don’t care how you do it but if you can fix it and not only that make it bigger and better.
i agree, i was disappointed to see my character suddenly raise his weapon even just when turning, and when i saw that the no weapon glitch caused me to drift around with an invisible gun, i was even more disappointed. all the new armour and gameplay options would help with machinima greatly, but the removed and glitched ones ruin it
PS: also, stop with the crazy button combos for lowering weapons
PPS: also make it an online custom games feature (disabled in matchmaking)
This is the first Halo game to not have a proper animation for your character not having a weapon. I still don’t understand that, what point was there in removing that? It’s not something really big or complex like making a gametype, it’s your Spartan’s arms locked in a certain position that has been the same since Halo 2.
While I’d prefer the Halo CE animation where you’re not holding your arms in some weird position, anything would be better than what we have now. I assume this and the lowered weapon while walking glitch can be fixed with an update, so why haven’t they done it yet?

i think the issue is that there was no part in the game where the chief was weaponless in campaign, unlike the previous halos, so they deemed it unnecessary to have the animation

Was there a part where you were weaponless in Halo 3 or Reach? Bungie must have realized that the community was making use of the animation and that it had gained a purpose that they didn’t think of.
I mean just come on, 343 claimed they were all Halo fans and that’s why they wanted to make the game. How can it be possible that none of them had seen a Machinima where a player didn’t have a weapon, or played a custom game variant that made players weaponless?
Sucks to hear, I hope this gets fixed for you guys. Machinima is definitely part of the community and has been for as far as I can remember.
I was disappointed when I noticed that too. It doesn’t make sense to me at all why they wouldn’t add an animation for walking with weapon lowered.
Second, what’s up with the ridiculous button combos? Why not just make it D-Pad down like in Halo 2 and disable it in matchmaking?
have to say in red vs blue it wasnt quite the same cos when thy walked it went back up like they were aiming at sarge and tha

Not in Reach but in Halo 3 Crows Nest would like a word with you
This really does need fixing, I don’t see any reason why they cannot fix this!

'Cause they’re 343i and they don’t want to fix anymore of the many bugs that have been in the game since day 1.
I don’t see how it’s possible to ruin something that simple so badly when it’s been done in EVERY FPS Halo game besides Halo CE, plus, they could have actually done the right thing and let us lower our weapons on Xbox LIVE for Machinima when you can’t find people in a local area and have press down on the D-Pad to lower our weapons instead of a ridiculous button combo. -_-
