Lowered Crosshair Options?

So, I’ve been enjoying Halo infinite quite a bit, but there’s one thing that’s been bothering me for all 75 hours I’ve played so far, and that’s no option for lowered crosshair.

Some people may not care very much, and some might even say it hinders the vertical gameplay for what’s below the player. Some might even say it’s not great for taking in the open world environment, but shouldn’t it be my choice?

Is there a lowered crosshair option I don’t know of? Or is there no option? If not, should there be?

I just feel like that should be a choice I have, like I had in MCC, even giving me the option to lower the crosshair in Halo CE, which was originally designed for a centered crosshair.

YES. I complained about this the first day I played this game. One would think they’d have this setting since they added it in MCC but 343 never makes any logical sense in their decisions do they? I prefer the lowered crosshair since I come from Halo 1 PC and I like being able to see more of the top of my screen. I know there’s onset settings but I don’t think they are a fix for this. Amazing how backwards we can travel with regards to settings that were in previous titles. ffs.

When did Halo CE PC have lowered crosshair? I just booted it up, and didn’t see anything like it. Is there a mod for it?

Yes ! We need an option for it just like in MCC

I think the reason it is like this is due to all weapons having an ADS mode, which is the same reason why the crosshairs were centered in Halo 5.

Ironic that in a game where you have more vertical combat scenarios they insist on half of your screen being taken up by the floor.

The lowered crosshair is based off the default crosshair for Halo 1 originally

Are you sure? I mean, I haven’t touched the OG Xbox version in a while, but I’m pretty sure the crosshair was centered. I thought the lowered crosshair was first introduced in Halo 2, and later added in to MCC.

Lowered crosshairs have been present since CE. H5 was the first title to have a centered crosshair with no option for lowered.

I’m pretty sure it was lowered originally in Halo CE.

That’s what everyone keeps telling me, but I’m looking at footage of Halo CE running on an original Xbox, with a centered crosshair. Am I really crazy? The only release of Halo CE I can find with a lowered crosshair is on MCC.

Please, if anyone has any footage of Halo CE on original Xbox, or even on the 2003 PC release (no mods) with lowered crosshairs, can someone please link it to me? This is gonna drive me crazy, because everything I’m looking at says Halo CE was centered, but everyone I’m talking to says lowered. I would sincerely appreciate it.

You know what your totally right. The MCC gave me some false memories. It is centered in CE.

Lowered Crosshairs came out in Halo 2 due to them realizing that environmental verticality was something they needed to address.

The lowered crosshair was also done on purpose so that the environments felt larger and more open. When half of the screen isn’t taken up by the floor, it allows for you to be more aware of your environment and to feel like the world is truly large and less claustrophobic.

Which is why I find it ironic that Halo 5 gifted players with more vertical movement by means of the clamber and the ground pound; but centered the reticle in favor of every gun getting unnecessary ADS. So they added more mobility options that made people a bit more threatening from up above… and then they made it so the screen is half taken up by the floor.

Notice how the reticle is level with the crane-strut in the distance? And yet with a lowered reticle, you have a better view of the skybox and the areas surrounding your Spartan, rather than most of it being just the ground?

Thank you! I thought I was starting to lose it!

I totally agree with what you say about halo 5, and I think I watched LNG’s video on the subject a year or two ago. Thanks for the info, and clarification.
