Lowered(classic) reticle position

I would LOVE to have a lowered reticle or at least the option to lower it. There’s a lot of reasons as to why I would like this, but this video: https://youtu.be/HrWDiMa8RoA by LateNightGaming perfectly explained it. i play on PC and have my reticle in MCC lowered, and it just feels weird to have it centered. please 343, it’s not that hard to lower the reticle and weapon, but it’s a great option to have. and what are yalls opinions on this? lowered or centered reticle?

I didn’t notice that since i played the laso campaign on reach and i literally draw the reticle to help me when i shoot, then i played H5 and yes it was a little up.
It would be good to have it as an option, but in my case i wouldn’t mind how it will be.

I used to find it weird, but I missed the lowered reticle when the centered one became the norm. Both have their merits, of course, but I believe the lowered reticle works well with the verticality of Halo.

It’s not like 343 is averse to lowered reticles either (Halo 4 for example).

I hope you can choose between lowered and centred crosshair. A lowered crosshair lets you see more of the game world which is why it is there in the first place for all Halo games but 5 and Destiny.

As Halo Infinite has a focus on open world and large environments it makes a lot of sense for players to have this option.

The Gameplay demo was captured on PC so its still possible the console version has a lowered crosshair option, but chances of this are slim.

I like centered personally. But they should add the option to choose. Everyone has thier own tastes, it’s always best to add as much accessibility options as possible.

Personally, I very much prefer the centered crosshair. This is because it’s so much easier to keep your weapon level to the ground so your ready for long range engangements. I find myself always looking towards the ground more with the lowered reticle which caused alot of player encounters ending in the opponents favor. Many people though aren’t gonna be that way. It’s just something that happens when I play. Now despite this, I am all for a toggle option like in the MCC. Just in general I hope they follow MCC as an example when it comes to game options. Bungie and 343’s game setting have always been extremely lackluster. Infinite needs to at a minimun be on MCC’s level, but this area truly does need to improve altogether. It’s almost a critical component in today’s games and makes a player’s experience so much more enjoyable.

I can’t think of any reason or advantage to center it besides YET AGAIN to copy other shooter games and just for the sake of following the trend. The centered reticle is absolutely horrible and along with many other things, ruins the aiming in halo 5. Why the hell would you do something that literally restricts upper vision and completely alters the FOV of the player? Have you ever noticed on lets say truth, coliseum, or plaza for example. If you are on ANY of the lower levels within a reasonable distance to an upper level, you are not able to see the upper level with your peripheral vision and thus not able to see enemies in time for you to react like you were in previous games. The centered reticle, the unbelievable lowered radar range (almost half previous games) mixed with the crap graphics, the NERFED best tactical weapons in the franchise (BR & DMR), making the magnum the most OP weapon in the game, along with all the noob spartan abilities really just shows how out of touch 343 has been so far when it comes to them making changes to halo. That was one of the first things I noticed when I started playing halo 5, was how weird the aiming was, and how different it was than ALL the previous games. After watching midnight gamings analysis on it, and putting 2 and 2 together, I now realize why the aiming is so crap.

And like someone else said, why the hell would you not want to have a bigger FOV and emphasis on upper peripheral vision (landscapes and skybox) in something like campaign that would DRASTICALLY alter a players perception of the visuals…?

Also one more thing to factor in. Is how it affects simple encounters between players in gameplay. For example, as midnight gaming talks about how, so much of PVP in halo is about using the higher ground to your advantage, and has been in every single halo game, which is very true. Now think about having a centered reticle vs a lowered reticle and peeking over the ledge at an enemy below you. With the lowered reticle in halo 2, 3, reach and 4, you are able to just peek your head out barely and inch the crosshair down a tiny bit while using the platform you are standing on as a shield while being able to shoot at an enemy. Now that same situation, except with a centered reticle. You have to literally stick your entire body off the ledge just to be able to look down far enough to fire at an enemy below you, leaving you exposed for shots with no cover, and making your high ground advantage literally pointless. Obviously this is just one example of an enemy being directly below you and how the reticle makes a huge difference, and I’m not sure why reasons like this were not taken into consideration before moving the reticle, or at least giving players the option to choose… Did 343 really cater TOO much to the competitive community when altering gameplay by changing classic halo mechanics? I personally think so. The magnum, the graphics, the maps, the gameplay, possibly this (the reticle) ect…really a disservice to the fans

There are many strange niche “things” that should be togglable in the games options. This is absolutely one of them. It’s harmless, doesn’t really impact the game and comes down to personal opinion. They got the toggle in on the Reach launch on PC, I fail to see how this couldn’t carry over into Infinite.

I think it’s similar to the centred guns in the modern Doom games. I personally think it looks too strange but a lot of people love it because it’s a throwback if nothing else.

It simply makes the fov more useful, when aiming down you see better what is going on straight ahead, and when you aim straight ahead you know what’s going on above.
Centered crosshair gets me claustrophobic. I

This is THE solution. I would never play with a lowered crosshair and will never understand why someone would do this. With a toggle, all are happy.

I certainly prefer lowered. Just feels right for Halo.

I even started playing MCC on pc and I tried the centered crosshairs and I wasn’t a fan. It definitely changes how you see the world.

I wonder if it has anything to do with maintaining consistent performance. The MCC games are old, so performance concerns aren’t much of an issue there.

You’d have to imagine that a centered crosshair allows them to have the weapon model and ground textures take up more screen space. This may help to keep the frame rate and resolution higher, due to having less complex geometry to render at any given moment.

This is just a guess tho. Take with a fat chunk of salt.
