I purchased a new 250g Xbox 360 just for Halo 4. I know the xbox is not the issue here…
There are several maps that have low FPS issues and usually it’s most apparent when playing split-screen. Considering that Halo 4 was developed for the Xbox 360, shouldn’t all the maps play smoothly?
The issue gets so bad that I have to quit playing the game… It’s impossible to aim when the target can literally disappear from your screen. And no, it’s not connection lag.
I just wanted to know has anyone found a way to resolve this issue, or does 343 plan on releasing a patch for this?..
None of the prior releases to this franchise have had any issues like this…
I play 4 player split screen constantly, and have had zero issues with this. It’s definitely something I like over reach, which had awful framerate lag even single-player.

Reach never had this lag. In Halo 4 I experience it more times than not anytime I play split screen, which is often. Plus, Complex single player still does it sometimes
The reason for this is most likely that too many things are happening on the map at once, the 360 can only handle so much with its inferior hardware. Not to mention Hosts connection does affect this, im not sure how peer to peer host works to be honest. From what ive heard everyone gets their packet information from the host, so from what i understand, your lag/low FPS is simply due to too many things happening at once.In turn it causes what appears to be the above mentioned.
It’s not the host. It’s 343i not reducing the graphics.I mean in Reach,in splitscreen stuff like Grass,Elite’s teeths etc we’re removed just so it can have perfect framerate .In Halo 4,there’s no such thing. They never tested it,they just went like’‘we have activated splitscreen, let’s put it in without testing it,it’s okay we still get the $$$’’
I playied so frequently Halo Reach splitscreen, but in Halo 4 i barely play it

Split-screen issues have started occurring since Reach. The problem is that rendering multiple real-time scenes is not something that the later Halo games can manage on seven-year-old hardware.

Halo 4 applies heavy LOD scaling to the terrain itself, rather than completely removing trivial objects at all distances. If, in split-screen without scoping in, you look at very distant terrain, you may find that it bears a drab, clay-like appearance.
Gen I: Pokemon Green/Red/Blue/Yellow - 40 FPS (Only because that’s all that games were capable of back then)
Gen II: Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal - 45 FPS (A little better, but not noticeable)
Gen III: Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen - 60 FPS
Gen IV: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/HeartGold/SoulSilver - 30 FPS (Downgraded due to 3D graphics, and more animations with shadows and better lighting)
Gen V: Pokemon Black/White/Black2/White2 - 30 FPS (Same as above but the Original Black and White versions actually had smoother and more consistent frame rates than Generation four games, only because of performance improvements to the engines and optimizations. Black 2 White 2 got worse because the graphics got even prettier, but the game remained on an outdated device…)
Game lags something awful for me too, on Star Wars 320gb Xbox, 10mbps down bandwidth. It’s always a problem during Spartan Ops or Co-op campaign with my friends. It became such a problem during my first co-op run on legendary that it was unplayable and highly upsetting.
Whether this is the hardware’s fault or the game’s design’s fault, the fact is that it is SOMEONE’s fault. It’s not something we should have to deal with in the name of “progress,” it’s something that should have been worked out before the game shipped.
