I’ve seen a lot of hate based around warhouse so far and i just got to say that I love it.
I’m kind of dissapointed by the community who is already writing it off because of its “industrial” asthetics.
Now I’m with you, Reach ran it in to the ground. Pretty much every launch map with the exception of maybe 2 had very boring, industrial/human asthetics.
However, it doesn’t bother me with warhouse as long as it is the only map that looks like that. I’ll have no problem playing on an industrial human space station with a view in to the void and what looks to be outside space areas as long as I don’t have to do it for every map.
343 seems to be doing a good job so far already. The first 2 maps shown have both been symetrical, competitive style maps with very different looks. That is something Reach lacked severely. It’s nice to see 343 come out and say hey, we are making these maps for competition, right out of the gate with the first 2 maps.
Now I also noticed something. in the concept art we can clearly see outside areas of the map with spartans standing on platforms. Could this be a hint at a zero g area? I think it could be a lot of fun.
reach’s zero g felt way too floaty and kind of helpless. If 343 can find a way to make zero g more maneuverable and less gimmicky then it could add a very interesting layer to the map.
What if in space your thrusters activated and you entered an alternate state, just as when you enter a vehicle your controls change, when you enter zero g it controls as well.
You can use that thruster to get an upward boost in zero g and to make it less floaty, holding the crouch button will cause your spartan to crash back down again.
My vision for Halo 4’s zero g is to remove that floaty helpless feeling and make it a very controlled, fun, and exciting new experience. With people jumping from platform to platform with ease and crushing in to the ground with the kind of weight 343 seems to be trying to capture.
Please note the thruster doesn’t mean jetpack. It maybe doubles your jump height and increases the speed in which you reach max altitude.
So basically I wan’t zero g to have a unique feel to it. I want it to be quick, controlled, and far less floaty. Do that and warhouse could have a very exciting zero g area.
Those are my thoughts on warhouse and zero g, discuss.
