loving the covenant in Halo 4

I like how 343 is keeping the covenant at their roots by making them speak their native alien language instead of english. This alone makes them sound so mysterious, tough as nails and just…alien! lol! I’m very impressed at the story and now i have no idea if i will go right into matchmaking or will play a few hrs of story first just to listen to an elite talk mad sh$# in his native language when he spots me. It really makes the coveys feel more Halo 1’ish which is a very very good thing. Once again thank you 343 for listening and making Halo 4 for the casuals and hardcore to enjoy together.

I agree! And I know it isn’t my business to tell you what to do, but I’d suggest playing through the whole campaign before getting into matchmaking instead of just doing a few hours, but that’s just me.

Do they speak English if iwhbyd skull is on ?

i’ve decided to play a few hours of MM first then some campaign later then more MM since i have a team i have played Halo with for a number of yrs so i know they will be sending invites out for me to jump in a game with them which i will gladly accept

no idea to my knowledge if the speak english with the skulls on or not…idk if that has been confirmed yet from 343 or maybe i just do not have to info to answer you but i still would hope they speak in their native tongue for gameplay purposes i listed in my topic

While I do like the way they look very much, I kinda did hope they’d speak English. Why? Because it makes the IWHBYD skull soooo much funner to have enabled! Plus I want the Arbiter to make a return, and it’d be a little weird for him to speak English and the rest just speak native.

In what game?

I actually really like it when the covies speak English. Has it been confirmed that they speak their own language?

It doesn’t really make much sense if Chief could understand them perfectly in Halo 3 because of his suit’s translation software and then in Halo 4 he suddenly lacks that. It is the same suit after all, just a visual retcon.

Me too i find their new look quite interesting…

that’s fine but the grunts could at least been allowed to speak English they usually have the better lines

I agree the covenant look awesome. And I’m glad they speak…whatever their language is. Keeps the story “real”

I like it as well. However, a translator skull would be nice, as long as the Grunts aren’t as stupid-sounding as they used to be.

Even though the Covenant look slightly different, I think they look better. Looking forward to killing them on November 6th.

Not to attack your opinion but… How does them speaking their own language make it more real? If I’m not mistaken they’ve spoke English in even the books. What’s so unreal about them knowing two languages? Humans can learn multiple languages. Why couldn’t an advanced alein race learn more then one. And maybe they speak English to taunt the humans and make them fear their words and show them they are not scared of them. ← (in the way that they don’t care to hide their thoughts, because they do not fear the humans. And speak openly for them to understand it as a product of that!)
