I was very worried about this game. It looked like it wasn’t going to feel like a Halo game. Needless to say, I was wrong. Even with the changes, it still feels like a Halo game, and it brought back the same feeling I had when playing H3.
Now, with that said, there are some things I don’t like and think needs to be tweaked:
1: Spartan Ops lags far too much.
I actually knew this was probably going to be the case, considering that Firefight lagged so bad. It seems the Halo engine doesn’t like having AI in Multiplayer. Dedicated servers would be the best option.
2: Custom options feel gimped, even more so then Reach.
Who thought removing the ability to choose what weapon the Flood start with was a good idea? And, remember, the Flood have been shown using every weapon and vehicles in past Halo games, so it isn’t a lore issue.
3: Removal of gametypes.
I hate it when game developers do this crap. Why take out gametypes? Taking them out just pisses people off. Bring back the old gametypes like Juggernaut, Race, Headhunter, Stockpile, and Assault. I mean, especially Assault. That game has been very popular ever since Halo 2. What brilliant genius thought they should remove it? Plus, you added Halo Chess of all things into Reach, so don’t pretend like you can’t do this.
4: Playlists are really weak.
This one isn’t that big of a complaint, since the game just launched, but I still feel like the playlists are missing some key ones. Like FFA Slayer, Team Objective, Team Doubles, Multi-Team, Classic Team Slayer, Classic Team Objective, and Classic FFA.
5: Assault Rifle still sucks.
I’m sorry, but it is completely useless. In a 1v1, with one person using an AR, and the other using a BR, chances are the BR user is gonna win. At least, I would. I would suggest bringing it back to the way it was in Halo: CE. A 60 round clip, a short range, and decent damage. It should be able to kill two people on one clip.
6: Either debuff the ProVision, or buff everything else.
Honestly, I feel like every other AA is completely useless in War Games. The Thruster Pack does what normal side-strafing does. The Jet-Pack doesn’t have nearly enough thrust to get you high enough. The Hard-Light shield is a nice improvement over Armor Lock, but it still feels useless to me, considering the fact that your shields take like twice as long to recharge while using it. Thruster Pack should go farther, Jet-Pack should either go higher or recharge faster, and shields should recharge normally when using HLS.
7: A couple of interface glitches I have noticed.
My Xbox-360 sometimes freezes when I try to go to Waypoint from Halo 4’s menu. And when I selected the “Play Halo” option in Waypoint, it locked me out of my LE bonuses. Now, these could all just be problems unique to me, so it really isn’t that big of a problem.
Anyway, that’s it. I love everything else about Halo 4 and I am really excited to see where they take the Chief. I loved the single-player, the new unlock system makes me have goals to work towards, and I’m excited to see where the Spartan-Ops story goes.
Thanks for reading, and see you on the battlefield.
