Loving H4, but here are some complaints

I was very worried about this game. It looked like it wasn’t going to feel like a Halo game. Needless to say, I was wrong. Even with the changes, it still feels like a Halo game, and it brought back the same feeling I had when playing H3.

Now, with that said, there are some things I don’t like and think needs to be tweaked:

1: Spartan Ops lags far too much.
I actually knew this was probably going to be the case, considering that Firefight lagged so bad. It seems the Halo engine doesn’t like having AI in Multiplayer. Dedicated servers would be the best option.

2: Custom options feel gimped, even more so then Reach.
Who thought removing the ability to choose what weapon the Flood start with was a good idea? And, remember, the Flood have been shown using every weapon and vehicles in past Halo games, so it isn’t a lore issue.

3: Removal of gametypes.
I hate it when game developers do this crap. Why take out gametypes? Taking them out just pisses people off. Bring back the old gametypes like Juggernaut, Race, Headhunter, Stockpile, and Assault. I mean, especially Assault. That game has been very popular ever since Halo 2. What brilliant genius thought they should remove it? Plus, you added Halo Chess of all things into Reach, so don’t pretend like you can’t do this.

4: Playlists are really weak.
This one isn’t that big of a complaint, since the game just launched, but I still feel like the playlists are missing some key ones. Like FFA Slayer, Team Objective, Team Doubles, Multi-Team, Classic Team Slayer, Classic Team Objective, and Classic FFA.

5: Assault Rifle still sucks.
I’m sorry, but it is completely useless. In a 1v1, with one person using an AR, and the other using a BR, chances are the BR user is gonna win. At least, I would. I would suggest bringing it back to the way it was in Halo: CE. A 60 round clip, a short range, and decent damage. It should be able to kill two people on one clip.

6: Either debuff the ProVision, or buff everything else.
Honestly, I feel like every other AA is completely useless in War Games. The Thruster Pack does what normal side-strafing does. The Jet-Pack doesn’t have nearly enough thrust to get you high enough. The Hard-Light shield is a nice improvement over Armor Lock, but it still feels useless to me, considering the fact that your shields take like twice as long to recharge while using it. Thruster Pack should go farther, Jet-Pack should either go higher or recharge faster, and shields should recharge normally when using HLS.

7: A couple of interface glitches I have noticed.
My Xbox-360 sometimes freezes when I try to go to Waypoint from Halo 4’s menu. And when I selected the “Play Halo” option in Waypoint, it locked me out of my LE bonuses. Now, these could all just be problems unique to me, so it really isn’t that big of a problem.

Anyway, that’s it. I love everything else about Halo 4 and I am really excited to see where they take the Chief. I loved the single-player, the new unlock system makes me have goals to work towards, and I’m excited to see where the Spartan-Ops story goes.

Thanks for reading, and see you on the battlefield.

Some good points. I am sure 343 industries will confront these issues soon. Bearing in mind the game has really just been released the creases should be ironed out.

Unless I’m missing something FFA is in the game. It’s called Regicide. 6 person FFA. 4th option on the match making. And slayer pro is basically classic slayer

Probably some good points, I don’t care either way about any of them except one, and that’s the lag on Spartan Ops - I just stick to solo games except when I’m going for challenges.

One thing I disagree with entirely though is AR - it’s my go-to rifle, and I beat plenty of guys with BRs and DMRs without a hitch. They’ve beat me too, it seems to go about 50/50 for me, but if you use it right in short bursts you get much better stopping power, and less bullet-spam. And before you ask, no I don’t use grenades to finish them off unless they take cover, but I will occasionally finish them off with a melee if they’re in range, or if they’re out of range with shields down I’ll switch to the Magnum and go for the headshot.

Just as an addendum to my last post - having the Dexterity support package makes the AR/Magnum combo quite deadly.

> Unless I’m missing something FFA is in the game. It’s called Regicide. 6 person FFA. 4th option on the match making. And slayer pro is basically classic slayer

FFA is regular slayer which is nothing like regicide. where people with little skill can win by killing the guy who actually puts in work. Regicide is cool but regular FFA is better.

the most important thing you left out is the XP cap because it will make everybody leave the game if they keep it going on. people want to SEE themselves ranking up, and if they cant do that (no matter how good the game nowadays) they’ll leave.

> Unless I’m missing something FFA is in the game. It’s called Regicide. 6 person FFA. 4th option on the match making. And slayer pro is basically classic slayer

Regicide is nothing like actual FFA slayer. And while Slayer Pro may feel similar to a Classic game-type, it isn’t really the same.

1: Yes Spartan Ops is way to laggy to hit accurately to hit anything that moves. I don’t know how 343i can fix this besides dedicated servers

2: Yes although the flood have used most if not all weapons in game. I feel that it is a fantastic successor to infection. It seems more real when you are fighting flood rather than Spartans with energy swords. Although the flood cannot use weapons, war games are a spartan training of sorts. If the flood had weapons it wouldn’t give the Spartans the same “training” as flood with OP arms.

3: Yes I agree with this one, the removal of game types is very saddening.
But I am sure that 343 could add said games types if it is demanded enough.

4: The playlists are currently weak at the moment because the game got released about 3 days ago depending where you live. But 343 has already said that the playlists will get updated. I believe that this means SWAT, team snipers, griffball, etc.

5: I totally disagree with you about the AR. I feel that 343 made it a good contender with the other weapons and I get embarrassed when I get demolished with it. And I don’t get owned because I stink at halo. I have about a 1.6 KD right now.

6: Yes pro vision is very much a good thing in my opinion. although the only contender with IMO is invisibility

7: regarding the interface problems I have found no such problems. If you are having trouble just go to the Xbox home and go to waypoint from there.

And the only thing I can think of to add to this is the XP cap. it is unnecessary at this time. I think H4 would do better without it for atleast the first month, if not more.

> If the flood had weapons it wouldn’t give the Spartans the same “training” as flood with OP arms.

If we want to get into lore, then it would make no sense for Spartan-IVs to train against Flood forms that use only a claw. Flood have used every manner of weapon and vehicle in the past, why would they not teach the S-IVs how to combat such a threat?
