Loving BTB Maps

Except for Recurve. Feels very cramped and the long sight lines encourage precision camping.

Basin is a godsend.
Has a “gulch” feel to it and is visually appealing like ragnarok. Nostalgia and the “halo feel” are alive and well in this map.

Deadlock is just as chaotic and blind side killing as the Halo 3 version.

Guillotine is absolutely epic.
Utilizes every aspect of the new movement mechanics and has great sight lines and cover.
The red spawn building could be a map of its own and reminds me of Prisoner from CE.

Only complaint is during slayer variants, Red Team spawns with the high ground advantage of being closest to the building and Splaser/DMR spawns

Overall I love BTB in Halo 5

Oh cool. It’s nice to hear that you like it. I have no problem with the map design. However, I’m not so fond of the look and textures. I think it could use more graffiti.

Or more signs/digital billboards like in ODST and 2

I just don’t like FORGE maps. They look like garbage. There like upscaled Halo 2 maps. I hope the huge number of free maps they promised are built from the ground up and aren’t just forges. Those aren’t what I call free… anyone can make a map in Forge.

Half correct. These were touched up by the devs
But if you can make maps just as good or know anyone that can please submit them so we can all enjoy them

Have a wonderful rest of your day

I posted this during sleep time, anyone on the day shift have thoughts on the new BTB maps?

I agree. BTB is a blast to play. The maps play great, too. They’re not perfect. But I’ve never seen a perfect Halo map. It doesn’t exist guys. I could care less about the textures that everyone is complaining about. The maps and games are fun and that’s what matters to me. If 343 wanted to show off what their forge could do I think they did a good job.

A positive thread about BTB on Waypoint… am I dreaming?!

apart from recurve? i find recurve to be the best one, it looks beautiful and plays amazing
i think Basin is the worse one, based on one of the worst maps in halo(that being bloodgulch, it is a bit better than bloodgulch/coag/valhalla though) they really need to retire those maps for good, theyre so boring to play on

Recurve, Guillotine and Deadlock are amazing though

pinches you “ouch!” said RUL MonkeyxMoo naw you weren’t dreaming xD

Overall I also like the maps besides whatever map has the blinding light. That map has some poor spawns (can be spawn sniped) and just seems to be an overall poor design. I had fun on all of them, but this map needs some work for sure. Especially with the blinding sun in the back round.

hell yeah man

i am sooo pumped to start forging

i never noticed the textures/colors until people started complaining on the forums, my first thing was to explore every inch of the maps and get ideas of what the forge is capable of while learning the flow/skill jumps for the new movement mechanics and map layouts

i can see why most people dont like the big maps because of the slow gameplay

but the inclusion of a third base in the middle and reducing the size by about 20% as compared to the other “gulch style” maps forces you into the action a little faster and smoother.

i would like to see more teleports though, the man cannons are a little over used and common place since reach/4

Headlong and Standoff ftw.

thats why i said its a bit better

its not the fact its big and open though, i just generally think bloodgulch and its successors are terrible maps, there are far better BTB maps that deserve remakes and get overlooked. such as
Sandtrap, Rats Nest, Avalanche, Terminal, Harvest, Exile, Burial Mounds, Waterworks etc

WaterWorks and Exile for sure

Avalanche yes but unchanged, the new movmement mechanics will help the flow a ton. those maps were cancer for 1-3 because of the slower movement and jumping

no one really talks about this one but Gephyrophobia from CE was an amazing map and i would like to remake it but scaled down a bit because even for CE it was huge and had tons of hiding places

The maps are better than I thought they would be, but there is something about recurve that is really off putting.

exactly, the best way i can describe it is “cramped”

its a big map but the routes to use vehicles or even traverse on foot feel confined and leave you open on long sight lines with little cover
