Lovin the new missions for SO!

My god! This set of missions is the best by far! What do you guyd/gals think about em?

Can’t play them just yet. I’m capped at 70 till maybe tomorrow, but are they new maps or just recycled maps from other Sops missions?

I bet they are more copy and paste levels from the campaign with some generic story overtones put in.

Little bit of both my friend. You’ll see! I bet yehs a nickel that you’ll like it and the Episode that comes along with it.

Excellent! I wanna know what that artifact was we picked up already! lol

I loved it. Scorpions on Quarry. Mantis mechs on Ragnarok; that was unexpected. Looks like they’re using MP maps for Spartan Ops now… I don’t mind, really. At all. I wonder what maps they’ll use next? Meltdown? Vortex? Exile? Solace? I wouldn’t mind shooting up covies on Adrift, myself…

Only gripe was the lack of Forerunner enemies in this episode. There were none at all. Makes it a little hard to level up Forerunner Destroyer. But that’s a total nitpick.

Can’t wait for next weeks episode. Maybe some more Mantis action? Or maybe even the Pelican, or the Broadsword?

Not a single spartan ops mission has been from campaign and any one who thinks they are is blind. The only one that’s even CLOSE to being a copy and paste from campaign is Sniper Alley and that was still a very changed version of it anyway. You sir, fail.

Exactly my thoughts.

This episode is my favorite so far, I can’t wait to see what 343 has for us next week.

this is the best batch, but its still just rehashes. they use 2 multiplayer maps, 1 map from episode 1, and some other map thats been used at least twice

What are you talking about? Go play the campaign again and you’ll see how SO is the copy and paste levels from Campaign.

Episode 3 is awesome. I wont spoil anything for those who haven’t played yet. The best batch by miles, and better than just about all of the campaign fights IMO.

EDIT: SO uses spaces from both multiplayer maps and the Campaign, with a few new areas sprinkles about.

I enjoyed them but the Valhalla missions were a little unorganized, I also think it is odd the huge level of resources that the Covenant seems to have to throw at the UNSC and simply lose over and over.

I have been alright with some of the copy past maps because they still offer unique combat experiences, but I hope there are originals down the road, I also hope that they don’t start an over reliance on scale to try and hide poor mission design.

Definitely the best set so far. I’ve had great experiences aside from times where we get an awful host.

Uh, and I experienced a strange bug on the second mission. A wave of elites spawned at incredibly small sizes of themselves. I would’ve thought they were possessed guns, but luckily I was using a loadout that had Promethean vision which showed their tiny red silhouettes underneath their normal-sized guns. I’m still not sure what to make of it.

Times like this I wish 343 had taken the time to incorporate theater mode for Spartan Ops.

Definitely the best episode so far. Spartan Ops is really starting to take off. Hopefully in episode 4 or 5, we get to fly in space with a broadsword.

Oh God yes!!

Quarry is from the mission Reclaimer. Specifically the part where you board the Liche.

Gate is from the Requiem mission. When you have to depart your warthog and continue on foot. It’s practically unchanged.

Fortress is a daylight version of a point in Forerunner where it was possible to steal a parked banshee. You had to destroy 3 objectives to move onward.

I have to admit, I don’t recognize Refuge from campaign.

I can’t give a 100% certainty on it. But I’m reasonably sure Cauldron is terrain from a campaign mission as well.

Now, they do a good job dressing up the levels. But the terrain itself doesn’t change. They add vehicles and structures as though it were made in forge.

Personally, I LOVE Spartan Ops. I enjoyed the 4th mission this episode. But I have to say… It was just a little over the top.

This episode has redeemed Spartan Ops in a big way for me. Every mission was fun, though It’s going to be a SOB in solo legendary on the last one. Wave after wave of Elites with fusion cannons, oy .

Best episode so far for sure. Still had two copy-paste maps this week (well, repeats from previous episodes…whereas the other three maps were just multiplayer ones), but I had a lot more fun overall.

What I still don’t enjoy is the story. Sarah Palmer is a terrible character. She’s unprofessional for a supposed Commander and her dialogue is written extremely poorly. I’m not expecting campaign-quality stuff here, but good god this is bad. Just a few examples:

-She constantly bashes scientists. Who the hell does she think made her armor? (which is responsible for her being a Spartan-IV in the first place!)

-Back-and-forth banter with Miller is way overdone.

-It didn’t crop up as much this week, but she treated a lot of the missions like a joke. This doesn’t help me feel like a badass or give an sense of importance to what is being done.

-Her treatment of Doctor Halsey in this episode was laughable. “Don’t listen to here I’m the one who writes your checks Crimson!” She sounds like a damn teenager. I don’t expect her to like Halsey, but the fact that she feels so threatened by her is pretty funny.

Somehow they managed to make Jennifer Hale get on my nerves. Not a good thing. I’m hoping Palmer gets some kind of wake-up call, or she just gets sidelined in Season 2.

Trust me, the last mission is the least of your worries. Mission 4 on Legendary is just… …wow. Easily the most times I’ve ever died in a Spartan Ops mission.
