Literally can’t even see why My buddy and I, both oynx’s, get matched with platinum teammates while facing a team of four. This could be the worst ranking system ever. Team Arena is a joke unless you run with 4 people. What was wrong with the simple 1-50 in Halo 3? I still don’t get why that isn’t the ranking system now a days. In Halo 3 I rarely got an uncompetitive and if you ran with 2 people you didn’t match a team of four.

i honestly dont like ranking high
mostly platinum with a few gold and a diamond
i would rather play silver/gold because i am a filthy casual and dont want to tryhard every sweaty lobby i go into

First I am not a pro by any means but you say you are carrying your teams with a 1.01 K/D Gold 1 rank on Slayer?

I checked his stats and I am not even sure what he is talking about. I did not see a single other team of 4 onyx players against him at all. I even looked at the last 10 games.

In breakout we only had a party of 2, myself which I am Onyx, and my brother, who was Diamond 6 and we faced 6 4 man teams of all champions one evening. The party restrictions are definitely non-existent. Those 4 man champion teams should be playing each other, rather than random teams.

lol. I have a 1.10 in Slayer so if we find 2 more people like us we can barely beat the World!!! Muhahaha…well at least until we get to Platinum.

Exactly, it happens and it is really annoying. You either get a team of four to face or your teammates are lower rated and you lose.
The issues you’re speaking of have more to do with matchmaking restrictions (or lack thereof) than the ranking system itself.
Those are connected but technically separate issues. One has to do with progression & estimation of skill, the other has to do with picking teams for individual games. The intersect of the two comes after the match when deciding how much a win or loss should affect you.

Yeah I guess with worse teammates you go down less with a loss but it still shouldn’t be like this.
Yeah it’s garbage. I would be fine placing platinum if that meant that I consistenly had platinum teammates and opponents, but half the time I’m playing against diamond/onyx players and I’ve even been against champions. I mostly play by myself or with 1 friend, yet often get matched against stacked teams - especially as I get closer to diamond rank. The highest I’ve placed is diamond in doubles, yet like my second placement match of FFA where I have yet to place a rank I think like half the opponents were onyx.
Edit: yeah here’s the link to my second placement match of FFA. For some reason 5 out of the 7 enemies are all onyx. Keep in mind in all the other placement matches I’ve placed platinum except for doubles where I’m diamond.

First world problems right here.
I’m in the same boat. I keep getting dragged back to Platinum 1 because while I score better than my gold and silver teammates (WHY 343i, WHY), the enemy almost always seems to be a group of platinums or onyxs.
I beat a team full of platinum players and topped the kill count and I’m only gold 2. With this rank system you will never truely find out exactly where you rank up in the world if you can cream higher ups, then grind out a win or lose against lower ranks and face a whole committed team. Think I went 17/7 in that game with a killing frenzy to add to my record.
It doesn’t even make sense. BTB is my most awful performance in any playlist thus far yet it drops me in Platinum, meanwhile I’m going ham in Team Slayer and barely hold on to a Gold.
How does this crap even work?

Op is being overdramatic
I placed top 2 on my team in all of my qualifying BTB matches with the exception of 1, where I was 4th on the team, and I was still only ranked gold. If qualifying games are based on individual performance, it’s broken. If they’re not based on individual performance, you have to constantly carry your team to rank up, which also means it’s broken.

What he is saying though is true. Look at my previous post. I’m platinum in all playlists I’ve placed in except doubles where I’m diamond. Yet my second placement match of FFA I get 5 onyx opponents. I often play against diamond/onyx players and have even played against champions. I shouldn’t be seeing onyx players until I’m diamond and close to placing onyx myself, and I especially shouldn’t be playing against champions as a platinum.
