A Halo Battle Royale is a long way out, and that’s even assuming it’s in the pipeline.
Can you imagine the number of weapons that would have to be added to even make one viable. Furthermore, it would have to play like nothing we’ve ever seen in Halo PvP.
You just typed an entire paragraph, and literally half of it was completely irrelevant and half of it is just stuff that you made up. I didn’t say a BR would fix desync or or the content. But literally how in the world would it affect it? You think that if the desync problem was simple enough to be solved by a few extra developers they had laying around, they wouldn’t have already done that? They’re obviously going to have to take a large endeavor to fix that, and implementing a batte royale playlist would probably not affect that team. And it’s laughable that you would say the CoD community was upset with Warzone. The majority of the population loved it. And very few people complained about the things you mentioned being related to Warzone. CoD has always constantly changed weapons and balances to games, they’ve always changed the perks, and they’ve always changed the mechanics of gameplay. EVERY YEAR at minimum. Some people tried make it seem like those were tied to Warzone, and they were slightly right, but mostly wrong, like you are now. And saying Warzone ruined multiplayer by creating a place for only weapon farming is simply untrue. Yes, it would happen. But not as much and in the ways that you are implying. If someone needed only kills, they could go to a kill only playlist. You’re just making whatever you want up to suit your “Halo Boomer” point of view.
Is that saving it, or just changing the game. Would you say Warzone saved CoD MW, BOCW or V? I’d say it’s its own game. How about they fix what’s broken and I’ll save the game. It’s like 2042 and going free to play, that ain’t fixing it chief.
Well it wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of these Halo ‘boomers’ didn’t actually know what a BR is. They think a Halo BR would be like Fortnite.
a BR mode would just be a mode, just like Firefight, just like Forge, just like all the other modes. Now we can talk about how practical it is with limitations of existing hardware, or how exactly 343i should go about it, or we can say that a BR would take too much time away from other areas, but the fact remains that it deserves a seat at the table along with all the other cool modes that Halo has had over the years.
Could a battle royale help population? Sure. But not having one isn’t the core issue.
The guys I play with dropped off pretty quick because they don’t really care about the competitive stuff in Halo and if you don’t care about sweaty matches there isn’t a whole lot else. I enjoy ranked and slayer but they just wanted to play the pure fun-with-friends modes like infection, grifball, BTB heavies, etc., but it’s not here right now. Overall, the game is pretty lacking as far as expected game modes, playlists, and social options go for Halo games.
This is all anecdotal evidence specific to my experience, but I don’t see them coming back until there’s a little more variety instead of the bare bones structure it’s at right now and I’d bet there’s a lot of other players who stopped playing in that same boat.
No, it won’t. It sure didn’t save Battlefield when they tried. There are already three huge BRs, there isn’t room for a fourth. It’s years too late for one.
In truth, a Battle-Royale doesn’t work with Halo’s design norms or sandbox. And oddly enough, people are getting sick of Battle Royale games to such a degree that when Ghost Recon announced its Battle Royale, people were really disappointed and disliked the announcement trailer and posts.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint has a sandbox that works with the Battle Royale mode, but people are so sick of just getting this game over-and-over again.
The last Battle Royale I was excited for was Apex Legends, because I was expecting a Titanfall Battle Royale and wanted to see what we got… … only to find it was a Pilot-Only Battle Royale that made it play like Overwatch with how each character has unique gadgets and an ultimate ability.
Disappointment Legends.
Mate they can’t even produce a functional game. Add on that the reason why the fans are annoyed is tIs because they have a created a game that doesn’t pay homage to what made Halo, Halo. Instead we got a F2P dump of a game that is designed for the ‘BR Zoomer’ mindset.
You slap a BR on this game and you are going to alienate a large portion of the remaining fans.
These two things are entirely opinion based, and while there’s not much to argue about, I completely disagree with both of these statements. Just like the sandbox and combat work the same in big team battle and ranked games, it would work in a BR as well. And attrition is an incredibly fun and competitive game type if you ask me. The only problems I have when playing attrition are the same problems I have whenever I play Halo at all.
No, you don’t want a battle royale, and you’re attempting to speak for an entire community, even though realistically over half the current remaining population would probably still enjoy a battle royale, if not more. I know all my casual friends that would never post online about video games would love one. Your opinion is not the opinion of the community.
How about we get a stable game (desync fixes, playable BTB, hit registration, etc) with an actual progression system outside of the BP, more multiplayer modes, forge, custom games browser, and maybe then we can think about a battle royale.
Battle Royale isnt saving it. Stop with that nonsense of a modern gaming trend that is nothing but a casual cash grab. It is the most shallow type of game to come out recent years. Leave it out of Halo, ESPECIALLY when they can’t even get Halo content right.
Battle Royale isnt : Solving desync, solving melee hit registration problems, PC crashes, PC bugs, horrible vehicle collison, Very Lack Luster customization system, horrible player collision, HORRID rank system, HORRIBLE spawning , lack luster weapon sandbox. So please spare us ALL the Battle Royale push. It’s not saving Infinite.
Let me give you an obvious run down of what can literally save Infinite:
Pre and Post game Lobbies.
Fixes to all the stuff I mentioned above.
Working forge that goes above and beyond.
A working theater that also captures campaign gameplay.
Modes like Heavies, Infection, Multi Team, Team Doubles, Griff ball the most goes on.
SERVICE RECORD.
Legacy Weapons and Equipment
Actually doing something about the cheaters.
the Customization freedom of Halo Reach
Bonus: Revamping their visuals because explosions and other particle effects are terrible in this game.
ALL THAT is saving Infinite. HALO infinite. Not some brain dead mode where you can die and have to wait all the way in the lobby for another queue.
Congratulations, you’re like the seventh person bringing up reasons why the game is broken. I am very obviously saying it would save the population, not fix the game. But go off and rant to yourself, I guess.
Your opinion is automatically invalidated because you too, are a boomer. Immediately hating on battle royals, not giving them any real criticism, just spewing how much you don’t like them. And it’s hilarious that you call BR’s a “trend” or “cash grab” when it has been the most dominant and popular gametype of any shooter for the last half a decade. That’s not even mentioning their true origin of Minecraft Hunger Games. You’re just spiteful and angry and sad. Pretty sad to see.
