love disappearing, restoring Halo

I was digging around in some old community files and I came across this.

After watching this video I have realized how much of the love for the game is disappearing. its very disappointing to hear form die hard halo vetrans that “the game is ruined”. as a die hard fan myself I would never seem to comprehend if these words had came out of my mouth.

its also disappointing to know its no longer playing the game for laughs and fun and to love the story. its now most of the days " im just playing it for the campaign" or “im doing it for the ranks and leaderboards”.

it almost brings a tear to my eye but to accept the fact that the love for halo is disappearing makes my heart very heavy.

today I had actually played with a few community members and we were having such a good time with the laughs and jokes and carnage we were having. I had said to myself “I haven’t had that feeling in a long time” I asked everyone else the same thing and they agreed.

that video made me so emotional that I have decide to ask you the community to help me out here. lets make this the year for halos Renascence “the rebirth” to make this a joyous year and be glad that the game is still here and give back to the people who put so much time in perfecting our game so its meets our standards not theirs. and if you are not doing it for the sake of the game do it for the sake of the franchise.

join me and many others in Project: Rebirth. restoring halo

I feel like the real meaning of the franchise has been dead for a while. Not from a development standpoint but a community standpoint. I can recover the old feeling I used to get by playing Halo Combat Evolved on PC, or even sometimes Halo 2 Vista. No leaderboards, no rank, just good old fashioned Halo gameplay with some (sometimes) cool people. The community has evolved into something I can’t exactly comprehend anymore. It is indeed sad, but I at least still have fun with the games regardless.

It’s a nice thought, what you have. But I don’t know how many people really agree at this point because it’s hard to discern the older fans from the new ones. Or at least, the fans who are really here just for the fun and for their love of Halo.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. The love is disappearing, but there’s still plenty out there. It’s just… hidden (for lack of a better word). There are plenty of people who think Halo 4 will be amazing, but most of them don’t post about it on this site because they’re afraid of getting flamed, or they just don’t see a reason to. People tend to post more about their complaints than what they love about the game.

it is sad truly fans have changed so much. there is a difference between a veteran and a true fan. A veteran has been there for awhile but it is unclear if they are a true fan or not. of course you cant be limited to what you think about the next halo game or the current. but you would still play it because it has those famous 4 letters in it. a true fan is someone who would never considering abandoning halo. they love the game with a passion and they love to do everything they can so that the game may thrive. words such as “I dont like what they are doing” or “it doesnt look like halo” would never come out of a fans mouth by the heart. it is unfortunate that this is happening, Recently I have talked to a long time halo veteran that has been there since the beginning and his thoughts on halo 4 were that the game is loosing its touch and that he might not consider buying it. I did not know how to decipher him. but I knew he wasn’t a true fan

You basically said one of the reasons on why I don’t go into matchmaking alone anymore

I agree. Even with my friends at school i can see that Halo has died there. People at my school, every week would at least put Halo 3 on once, whether it’s for Customs or something else. But with Reach, it’s quite saddening to see i’m the ONLY regular player left in my school.

I’m hoping Halo 4 changes that.

yes I agree its worse where I live. about 5 years ago around the time of halo 3 I would say about 72% of people who had live or an xbox where I lived was in love with Halo. That number has dropped to about 26%. it shows that they lost the love for the game. going back to bungie people literally protested reach and threatened to not play reach or even touch a Halo game again. when I read those posts I didnt know if I could continue to read on. I tried to convince people to think the other way but it wasnt working. the forum eventually got into so much protest I said “I need to get the hell out of here”. if this is your case play the game for the sake of the franchise and to preserve those good memories. and play the game because its called Halo.

its truly disappointing. we are finally going to play as out long missed hero that we haven’t seen since September of 2007. and Halo veterans are saying they might not even purchase the game because of a multiplayer feature

I had talked to 2 more halo fans and they both agree that the love for the game has been dying. im glad to see things like this in the community because it means that people want the game to thrive as well as hype it up.

Lets see if 343i can make it happen, thats all we can hope for. Halo fest really brought back a large asset to Halo IMO. Reach really did some damage to a lot of players/Fans…

The problem is, that now in day, the games are getting more competitive than for fun, they take things seriusly. people in these days doesn’t want even no one strange in your party

one friend that showed me Halo, like 6 years ago, make me buy an xbox and play it, now that friend the same that make me buy halo, dont love it anymore, am disspointed, now he sold his xbox.

I agree with you so much bro. The bond of the Halo fans has broken. We all just need to
love the game.

I’m supporting you.

the idea of it really happening is a sad story already. some people complain that 343 is not as eventful as bungie and those events made all the memories. now as blood 0f ganon sated they have halo fest and it really unites halo fans and making the new community more enjoyable. but some would argue that it is limited to the buyers and travelers only and the experience is not as fun. now I have heard people say that 343 should have like a bungie day similar festival. it is not a bad idea and it could work over xbox live. I truly believe that 343 is trying all they can to preserve our memories as best as they can. and with a game like halo 4 coming out I believe those memories will be back into play and even making more.

When reach came out all the good old halo vets said “-Yoink- it, this game is going to hell.”

Rebirth, Restore, Halo.
lets start the project! so we can show the love again, so the project consist on…

> When reach came out all the good old halo vets said “-Yoink!- it, this game is going to hell.”

what they didnt want to accept was the game was simply evolving.

and to you Rak im glad to see your committed to this project and helping the community. not to mention getting halo its former glory. for now we must sit back and observe see how E3 will run things and what impact it will give to the community

its was very unfortunate to hear that a Halo veteran from the beginning is not going to purchase halo 4. I ask myself why sometimes. hu its funny because I expect a response eventually. but I dont get it from where I want it or how I want it. but I soon realize how much better this response was from the last and I learn to live and love the facts.

For some the love is disappearing, however for others it’s still strong.
I have to admit that i miss the good old days of halo 3. No dought reach left a lot to be desired, however im not leaving halo just because of one game. I have a feeling that halo 4 will be the greatest game of the year, heck, maybe two years!

But here’s something a lot of people should know, if you’re not going to support something it just won’t happen anymore. If we stop playing halo, halo will die. Leaving the market dominated with games lacking of everything we as halo fans have come to love.

So please to all of you who say you’re a “halo veteran” please don’t try and demote the thing you claim to love. Otherwise thebest thing you can do Is leave this community.

It was always like this especially with H2/HR. Massive hate as Bungie/343 announce new features that nobody was asking for, then slow acceptance as everyone realizes they are stuck with the gimmicks. As a long-time Halo multiplayer fan, I except to like and hate some stuff every Halo release, but damn this time around I am not liking alot of stuff on first impression. I say this with 7K+ multiplayer games played in H2/H3 and countless Halo 1 LANS.

The sad part is, lately the evolution of Halo multiplayer has been SOLELY based on attracting casuals, not focused on real Halo multiplayer fans. That is what hurts the most.

Yes Simply 5 I do support you statement. Every time I get on Halo 3 I just sit there in the menu listening to the music and that music always triggers something in me. I say wow Those days in the summers when Halo 3 was out were the best. the reason is because then things were less competitive. Halo was pretty much at the top of its game and other shooters like cod and bf were trying to catch up. this is the time when the community was united and there was a very strong bond between the game the developers and the community but it suddenly seems that the bond snapped when the side stories began and there was no chief. Since the chief is back and after looking at this game it makes me fell like a mix of halo 3 and reach kind of like a Halo 3 60% and reach 40% but the question is will the community unite once more.
