LOST CONNECTION FIX

During the first week of release I could play this game on a wired connection with 0 lag and 0 disconnects. Then all of a sudden everyone started experiencing connection issues, myself included. The only fix that has seemed to work for me was switching to a wireless connection. Now I will only disconnect from a game maybe once a day, if at all. Whenever I try switching back to a wired connection I have horrible results. Anyone else in a similar position?

hahaha great joke XD

Sadly not a joke :frowning: This game should work better wired not wireless, so weird.

Dude switching between how your connected to your internet affects your gameplay, that’s an obvious sign it’s your hardware. NOT a server issue.

If it was a hardware issue, how come all my other games work fine with a wired connection? Only Halo 5 has issues…

Each game takes up more data and bandwith differently, Halo 5 requires a bit more because it’s continuesly connected to servers.

Ok I’m still confused…A wired connection is faster and more reliable than a wireless connection. The game should be running better when its wired no? It can’t be a hardware issue because I’m still using the same router/modem whether I’m running wireless or not.

I reiterate to my other comment, that’s literally a Hardware issue. If you can’t grasp the concept that you “Have a better connection with Wireless” and you still blame a server miles and miles away from you, you’re helpless.

Since the release of the game, I’ve never been disconnected once. I have 180 download 30 upload and I’m playing on European servers.

Forward the ports for halo 5 (google how to do it on your specific router) Change xbox from instant on to energy saver and set up static Ip on xbox. No more connection drops.

Thanks A1tontoyota, unlike the last -Yoink- stating the obvious, you actually offered some advice. I will try that and see if it works.

It has worked wonders for others, hope it works as well for you.

Easy step by step article. Create a Port Forward for Halo 5: Guardians in your Router
I open more ports and that seems to help. 3074, 53, 80, 88,500, 3544, 4500 seems to help a lot.

If that doesnt help it might be your router. I have seen the wired ports go bad before and the wireless works fine.

True

Worked like a charm, I’m gonna make a guide for others now, thanks again!

I’ve been trying to get the word out but everyone wants to blame 343 instead.
