I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I constantly find myself losing in melee battles. The typical scenario goes like this: I get the drop on an opponent. I put a few shots into them and decide to use the melee to finish them off. I melee them and they don’t die. (I assume that I didn’t put enough shots into them before the melee, no big deal.) At this point I have a full shield and the enemy has no shield. Before I have a chance to shoot or attempt a second melee, the opponent melees me and I end up dead despite having a full shield.
Is the game programmed to be like this? Are you supposed to be punished for using the melee to prevent melee spam? I just don’t get it, but I find this happens often.

I’ll play tonight and try to save a clip if it happens. I’m not complaining about the fact that my melee did not kill the opponent. I get that I probably didn’t put enough shots into him. My problem is the fact that immediately after I melee him, he then melees me while I have a full shield and I end up dying.
Are you jumping when you melee? In halo 5 when you jump and melee the game has a small delay because it’s trying to figure out if you’re going to ground pound or just do a melee. Could be a cause of losing battles. If not make sure you’re putting 3 shots with a magnum/DMR, 2 bursts of a BR or 6 bullets with an AR before meleeing. Thats a guaranteed kill
If you watch back situations where this has happened from the other players perspective in theatre you will see that they more than likely got in a few shots to drop your shields…and because of latency, you don’t get to see this on your screen so it appears as if you were killed with a one hit melee.
