I’ve been a long time fan of Halo since 2006. Devoted lot’s of my time to playing the games, listening to music, buying collectibles. Never had my interest lost in the franchise until Halo 5. Halo Wars 2 looks good but after Halo 5. Is Halo still worth getting into. Now this might not be the site to post this. As many people can’t take criticism very well. Heck, after getting banned for some posts on my opinions and facts on why Halo 5 is lower quality to the older games, it’s clearly evident. I have very little interest in the franchise and want reasons to stay. I mostly followed the story and campaigns, after Halo 5 the interest is just barely there. I want to love Halo and I need a reason to trust 343 with it’s future, but I don’t know anymore. If someone who’s level headed and can change his/her perspective temporarily to understand where I’m coming from, is willing to help and give me legit reasons to stay a loyal fan. That would be great.
Have you read all the books? That’s where I get the most enjoyment out of the franchise to be honest. Other than that, I find the custom games browser to be endlessly amusing!
Probably not what you want to hear, but 2006 was a long time ago. Maybe you’ve just changed. As as example I used to love those 5.0 mustangs from 1987-1993. I’ve had several of them. I daydreamed about them. I was obsessed. Then I just slowly stopped caring and I haven’t wanted one for a few years. I don’t know why. Maybe you’ve just outgrown Halo? Sorry I didn’t have something more inspiring to say lol.
Moving this thread to a more appropriate forum.
Ok, why is posting this here inappropriate? It’s related to Halo 5, and I’m not doing anything wrong.

Probably cause the post is more applicable to Halo in general (that’s what this forum is for). Does’t matter as long as the post isn’t locked.
Back on topic, do you have any IRL friends that still play Halo? If so, try playing with them if you have the time. Also, if you’re interested in it and haven’t tried your hand with it yet, perhaps dabbling a bit with the Forge magic may be the way to go. Try and see what you can make, be it a BTB map or a new thing for Customs. Other than that, I really have no idea what to suggest.
I’m with you. I haven’t outgrown Halo because I still find enjoyment in MCC. But this “nu-Halo” direction they’ve taken the franchise with the sprinting and mobility mechanics totally ruin the experience for me with Halo 5. Join us in arguing for a return to form with Halo 6. If Halo 6 ditches the sprinting, I will buy it and continue to support the franchise. If 343 continues down this path of so-called “modernization”, then I’m done. We haven’t outgrown Halo, Halo has changed and started gearing itself toward children.

I’ve lost some interest as well, however halo wars 2 and some upcoming novels still have me slightly interested…at least when it comes to story, imo 343 has made alot of people lose interest in halo…and before I get hate that’s why I said IMO
I find that when I start feeling burnt out its best to take a break and play other games. After a month or so I come back feeling refreshed and ready to play some Halo. I’m not saying it will work for sure, but its worth a try.
No one can make you like a game you don’t like. I’m a huge fan of Assassin’s Creed since the first game and the Unity and Syndicate entries have completely diminished my hype for the franchise, as of right now I’m not interested at all. All you can do is hope the next entry is better. If it’s good, great, buy it and have fun. If it’s not, damn, move on and hope for the next one.

Just play Destiny for a little while, and you’ll be yearning for Halo 5.
Also, stay away from Titanfall 2. That game is gold.
To stay interested just play the first 2 a lot, they never lose their touch. But I know that’s not a great answer so I’ll suggest reading the books because all of them are good (forerunner saga is a bit confusing to read though. You can understand what’s going on but it’s hard to pay attention) if it’s story that interests you than the books will keep you going. And when hw2 comes out, give it a try and see how you feel after that. But if you need some suggestions on which books to start with try fractures, fall of reach, the kilo 5 trilogy, hunters in the dark, and last light
Your first Halo is like your first crush. You never really forget it and you may not even ever get over it. Holding each successive game to some objective standard is bad enough, but what you’re doing is asking 343 make sure that you fall in love every single time they launch a game. I’d say you should fondly remember that first crush, but you should also let Halo 5 off the hook for not being your personal vision of what Halo should be. Just enjoy it until you don’t enjoy it anymore. Then take a break. Maybe you’ll come back. Maybe you won’t. Maybe you’ll find something better to crush on. Maybe not. But I have to say that if you can’t find anything in this game to hold your attention then you’re not looking very hard and that would seem to be because you’re looking a little too hard at Halo 2 and Halo 3. We used to call that “cutting off your nose to spite your face.”

That seems to be a very valid thing thing to say. I mean they took out what little blood they had in the previous games. Which made killing your enemies more satisfying. I’m with you on this. Going back to Reach and 3 was so much more satisfying than playing the “modern” Halo 5. What’s the best way to make all this change happen?

My first was CE, but I love 3 the most. However I get what you mean. I’ve been trying to look at the game positives: music, a lot of multiplayer content, a few good characters, forge, some spartan armor designs, and fun gameplay, but the overwhelming personal negative aspects just feel so heavy.
I just play halo is shorthe bursts so that I don’t get played out, I mix it up a little every day by playing all my games in one day. A game or 2 of Overwatch, some Titan fall 2, a little bit of GTA V races, and some Halo here and there to keep things fresh.

Definetely have some interest in Halo Wars 2 but I don’t know if I should buy it or not.

I’m not unsympathetic at all. There’s more than a little to the Halo 5 game play formula that leaves me cold. But the grandeur of Warzone makes it easy to overlook those problems, at least for long whiles at a time. The forge is a revelation. The customs browser is an epiphany. I’m sure I’m not telling you anything here that you don’t already know. But as much as I appreciate these things I still take long vacations to Reach to play firefight (solo) and score attack, and Halo 4 for solo Spartan Ops. These are things Halo 5 just isn’t interested in offering. It doesn’t mean Halo 5 is bad, it just means that it can’t be all things to all people. Thank the Halo gods for MCC and backward compatibility.
Out of curiosity, what are some of your overwhelming negatives from Halo 5?

How about when it comes out wait a little bit and watch the first 2 missions on youtube to decide if it looks decent

I know it’s fine now, but at launch there wasn’t nearly enough content. The campaign was the worst in the series: Lack of playable Master chief, poor character development, horrible use of Cortana, killed Jul Mdama WAY too early, cliff hanger ending that wasn’t interesting, fan service that didn’t serve the story at all, no splitscreen, incompetent covenant enemies, killing of Didact in the comics when he should be in Halo 5, the worst version of the Master Chief: he should have kicked lockes -Yoink- and wasn’t as interesting as he was in 4. Lack of classic gameplay, like I said, I’m a longtime fan. I could go on, but you get the point.
