There are a lot of people concerned with Gray Teams armor. We know they had Mark IV before Halo Envoy, but a lot of people are saying they somehow magically got Mark VI just because the cover of the book. Id like to hear what you guys think about this.
I think it’s pretty safe to assume that they were wearing Mark IV armor, though, since they were assigned to Operation: SUNSPEAR in 2552, I’d say it’s possible they may have received the Mark VI armor around that time.

If you look at the art work for Halo: The Cole Protocal you’ll notice that little has changed with their armor leading up to Halo Envoy. Their armor does however have a resemblance to the MARK VI armor that Chief has post Halo 4. Grey Team is promised new armor at the end of the story so it would be safe to assume they’d get some type of MJOLNIR GEN 2.

Yea I guess, But Johns Mark VI is the only one that looks like that.
I’m guessing they would get Mark VI Gen 2. Which also makes you wonder what Red Teams new armor will be if they ever reach the Infinity
Personally I wish they got Mark VII, but since Operation: SUNSPEAR was at around the time of the Battle of Earth it’s possible they could’ve gone from their modified Mark IV type armor straight to Mark VI.
They probably have GEN 2 by now, considering the events of Envoy.
I always just thought that the armour that the Spartan on the cover of The Cole Protocol wears is just a variant of the MK IV. As for Envoy, I haven’t read it yet but it makes sense for the timeframe for them to be issued with mk VI.
