Lord Hood learns that John 117 is alive?

What would happen if Lord Hood finds out that John 117 (A.K.A. Master Chief) is alive, just like Dr. Halsey learned that John’s alive.

Tell me in your opinion.

Unlike Halsey, he probably wasn’t left in the dark about it. He’d probably be pleased.

I think that Hood will organize a ceremony in John’s honor. John Is the hero of the Human-Covenant War after all. Not to mention that he JUST got through saving the Earth from the Didact.

Perhaps a ceremony post Halo 6, in celebration of John saving Humanitys -Yoink- SIX times.

Unless John continues well on beyond this point.

I’ve wondered this myself. Four years after he last had contact with Chief, is Lord Hood still an active officer or is he retired? I assume he lives or is stationed on Earth–specifically Africa (that’s where we last saw him)–and Chief after stopping the Didact was last seen on the Infinity in Earth’s orbit being debriefed … it’d be a matter of simple satellite communication or radio broadcast (we could do that with today’s technology with less lag time than you’d experience playing Halo 4) to chat with him, so I imagine he was in-the-know as soon as the giant Forerunner ship that was composing New Phoenix exploded.
At this point, especially on Earth, Chief is a celebrity. According to dialog from marines in Halo 4, their children have posters of him on their walls. You couldn’t cover up something like the New Phoenix incident and people would have questions … so, “Chief did it again!” would make people happy that their savior has returned and saved them all (again) and it would make the UNSC look good. So, I’m sure Lord Hood, and most of Earth knew.

Given that Del Rio was pulled from command for ignoring the advice from the master chief, it would surprise me that Lord Hood wouldn’t know, as long as he was still in the UNSC. And given the massive depopulation of humanity over recent years, you would want to be holding on to your experienced personnel (in all fields) for as long as it was medically feasible.
