I’ve been playing Halo since it came out. Even when I had a poop PC I still managed to rig it to play Custom Edition. I have bought and read all the books expect the ones published in the last three years or so. So, here is why I’m writing this. As a Halo has been part of my life for almost two decades, I am heart broken to see the franchise going down the slippery slope that has consumed EA, Ubisoft, etc. Halo, to me, has always been about coming home from a hard day and -Yoinking!- online or on the couch with your friends and family. I have a half brother who lives in another state and is nine years apart from me. We only see each other once a year. Halo was the one constant in our lives that stuck us together like glue. Reading the books, playing the games, telling tales of heroism and goofiness. Halo has been apart of my family since I was twelve. Without my life would ultimately be different and I would be a different person who I don’t want to meet. Sorry, I’m going off, here is my point. Halo, or any video game, needs challenge, it needs build up, it needs… Items and armor and rewards you can get through unlocks and doing certain achievements. Not damn RNG lootboxes, paid with real money or not. HELL, I would care less if I had to buy armor as long as I knew what I was getting. I’ve been playing Halo 5 since launch on and off. I still haven’t unlocked everything and I sell everything I get to get the slightest more in game credits. There are about 40 other problems I have with the way Halo 5 is handled, but right now lootboxes. If I see a single mention of any kind of lootbox system for armor or anything in Halo infinitely infinite. Then I won’t buy this game. The first Halo game I won’t buy. I was really close with not buying 5. And seeing as how Halo 5 is my least favorite out of all of them… Well, I don’t have high hopes for Halo 6. I hope the rest of the Halo community voices their own concerns. It’s the only way things will change.
