> > > > Is anyone else super disappointed in the Tech Crate recently shipped out from Loot Crate? Not only did it take twice as long for them to dish out this Crate, but it also is lack luster from a crate of standard quality. The crates for the previous Noble Team Members all had items that were related to the character in some way. In this Crate i count 4 items that are not related to Kat; the AI (Cortana) USB drive, the Spartan IV Program T-Shirt, the Ghost pin, and the ghost spec sheet.
> > > >
> > > > The AI USB Drive is strictly a Master Chief thing and has nothing to do with Kat at all. Yes it is a piece of “Tech”, but for it to be the sole item that held up the release of this crate is very disappointing. I do like that it is very structurally solid and it feels amazing. It does light up when you plug it in, BUT the light does not illuminate the whole translucent ring as its should. Also the storage space is an extremely small 4GB. I would have been okay with the 4 month wait if we were able to change out the storage card inside the AI Card to a higher amount, but that is not the case and it is stuck at 4GB. You can find some pretty fashionable USB Drives( Starwars, Marvel, etc) for $5-$6 at 4GB memory.

Yes the details in the crate explains the legacy of Noble team helped innovate the S IV program, but who is gonna know that this shirt came from the Tech Crate when it has nothing Kat related?

> > > > Yes the Ghost is definitely some pretty awesome tech, but it is not UNSC tech and Kat B-320 is from the UNSC. They should have made this crate come with a warthog pin and spec sheet because that is really the only vehicle you see Kat associated with in the game. Also another point that leaves me disappointed about the wait is that I did not get a gold pin. I feel like for having to wait Double the time everyone should have been granted a gold pin.

I cancelled all my lootcrate long ago until they launched the Halo box and have suffered through their crap and deteriorating content this whole time in the sake of my love for Halo.

If 343 put out the box, I would hope for a different experience (especially since lootcrate is a garbage company), but they have yet to figure it out on their own or desire to do so. I am chopping it up to a complete disregard for the Haloverse having fans after these money grubbing moves.

> Given Lootcrate’s track record and less than stellar customer ratings from what I’ve seen, I think 343 kinda deserves some of the blame. But your theory is very probable that 343 is locked into a contract and has no choice.

> Regardless of blame, there is something that just feels wrong about how crates work. Since most, if not all, of the items are exclusive to the crate, those who gobble up lore and collectibles are practically forced into getting a subscription (forced may be a strong word, but I can’t think of a better one right now). Then even if the quality of the crates go downhill, those people still have to get the crate or risk missing out on exclusive items. To me it seems like a moral gray area with regards to ethical business practices.
I concede to Ezio’s point also. That makes the most logical sense with locked in contracts and typically they exist due to marketing costs etc. that are incurred.
As no Lore is coming out of them anymore, I think we are free in clear of being ‘forced’
to getting them. I am trying to finish out this last year (I order month to month due to my distrust in Lootcrate, but the series is coming to an end). I have a hard time with justifying any of it as I begin to make more of my own personal merchandise (t-shirts, 3d printing, etc.)
The hard part is that there is just not a lot of Halo merch out there. Whether you like the stuff or not, it is all we really have to pick from.
Should we be giving kudos to 343 for at least getting us this even though they used such a dispicable outlet, at least we have something? I do think that concept will help me sleep the next time 40$ is pulled from my account for this again.
I do appreciate this thread as I was starting to feel alone about what the heck was happening with these dang crates.
