Loot Crate (Tech) Disappointment

Is anyone else super disappointed in the Tech Crate recently shipped out from Loot Crate? Not only did it take twice as long for them to dish out this Crate, but it also is lack luster from a crate of standard quality. The crates for the previous Noble Team Members all had items that were related to the character in some way. In this Crate i count 4 items that are not related to Kat; the AI (Cortana) USB drive, the Spartan IV Program T-Shirt, the Ghost pin, and the ghost spec sheet.

The AI USB Drive is strictly a Master Chief thing and has nothing to do with Kat at all. Yes it is a piece of “Tech”, but for it to be the sole item that held up the release of this crate is very disappointing. I do like that it is very structurally solid and it feels amazing. It does light up when you plug it in, BUT the light does not illuminate the whole translucent ring as its should. Also the storage space is an extremely small 4GB. I would have been okay with the 4 month wait if we were able to change out the storage card inside the AI Card to a higher amount, but that is not the case and it is stuck at 4GB. You can find some pretty fashionable USB Drives( Starwars, Marvel, etc) for $5-$6 at 4GB memory.

The T-Shirt is an issue because this shirt has been released previously and it is not exclusive to Kat or the Tech Crate. Also it says Spartan IV Program on it, not Spartan III. Yes the details in the crate explains the legacy of Noble team helped innovate the S IV program, but who is gonna know that this shirt came from the Tech Crate when it has nothing Kat related?

Yes the Ghost is definitely some pretty awesome tech, but it is not UNSC tech and Kat B-320 is from the UNSC. They should have made this crate come with a warthog pin and spec sheet because that is really the only vehicle you see Kat associated with in the game. Also another point that leaves me disappointed about the wait is that I did not get a gold pin. I feel like for having to wait Double the time everyone should have been granted a gold pin.

This crate came with the Icons Figure Kat B-320, a hat with the Noble Team logo on it and says Kat B-320 on the back, a Ghost pin (Silver or gold), Ghost Specs sheet, a poster of Kat holding pistol in front, Spartan IV Program T-Shirt (not exclusive), and a USB Flash Drive 4GB (Cortana AI Chip Design).

Let me know what you guys think. Are you disappointed or do you think it was worth the wait. I feel like it would be worth the wait if i could insert/remove mini USB cards into and out of the AI Chip, but that is not the case.

I’m still disappointed with the fact that intel gave way to spec sheets. I was thinking about taking the plunge, but as a lore fan, I really don’t see the point if I’m not getting intel. The rest of the stuff is fun and all, but ultimately just a collection of interesting items and not much more, at least for me. If the crate you described above is truly that bad, I’m thinking I’ll just stick to watching un-boxing videos instead of buying the series myself.

You are definitely not wrong. Giving it one more crate then I’ll be considering my subscription… the quality in general just seems to be going downhill at Loot Crate constantly: it’s not just the Halo crates

Yeah, op your not wrong. The theme seems all messed up. And the usb, shirt and even hat feel a bit lazy to me. We allready can get a spartan shirt and cortana chip key chain. I agree that we should of got a spartan 3 shirt with some overall relation to kat. . And i think the usb should of been a biger size than 4GB, or had more to it. Overall it was lack luster, i really wanted to be blown away at what was inside, especially given how late it was.

Looking at the hat now, the quality of the hat is really good in retrospect.

Its odd that loot crate wants us to share, yet it feels like a down grade. I think they are just running out of ideas at this point. Or perhaps the budget is low for making all the cool stuff. Orrrr maybe it being late killed my hype, idk.

Also, i think if the intel came in a envelope like it used to, and the usb had a case or box of its own, each item would of stood out more.

Little bit of both maybe? TBH the hat feels kind of re-used. I guess they do have a limit to what they can feasibly do tho.

So considering all these I’m sort of hesitant to start my sun to LootCrate, would it be worth it or should I hold off would you say?

Let me get the Renegade Crate and I will let you know my opinion on that one as well.

Sounds good man, hopefully, it is good!

AMEN!!!
I have been a Halo Fanatic since the beginning, but this is just a despicable excuse to churn out money from followers. I cancelled all my lootcrate long ago until they launched the Halo box and have suffered through their crap and deteriorating content this whole time in the sake of my love for Halo.
4 months was ridiculous and to have their support sit there and say ‘it will be worth the wait’ and there was worse crap then I have received in the past made me almost cut all cords immediately.

I am actually on the front that we hold 343 industries personally responsible for this. They chose the 3rd party vendor, stood by them, and at this point I can no longer defend the company. If 343 put out the box, I would hope for a different experience (especially since lootcrate is a garbage company), but they have yet to figure it out on their own or desire to do so. I am chopping it up to a complete disregard for the Haloverse having fans after these money grubbing moves.

What you are saying is that it has ‘Lootcrate’ written all over their efforts to cut corners?
I keep getting the same feeling. I feel like this stuck out soooo much more since it was 2 months let which has now led to their next crate being almost a month late. I feel like I have had 2-3 crates in the past few years arrive on time (between their (formerly)‘guaranteed’ dates), they stuck out so much I actually have recolections of being surprised.

My expectations have dropped so heavily of them now though.
Lootcrate has some of the highest customer churn rates and we are obviously feeling the consequences of the company from this. I am quite worried that the Halo crate will just turn into their other crates where they try to dump crap and have a complete lack of creativity.
I churn out stuff on my 3d printer that I design and build that I think would be wiser for me. (their cookie cutters they sent, I had a year before due to 3d printing) The only reason I feel I have even kept it now (other then being Halo) is the apparel, but at those prices it is just pointless.

Depends how big of a fan he is. At the price it is at, I would highly question it unless he would love every single item in it. If he only likes 1 or 2 items in it, don’t do it.
If you are all about getting items you can’t find elsewhere, then it might justify it no matter what.

Lootcrate just always leaves a bad taste in so many people’s mouths that almost anyone I am aware of is completely jaded by them.

Recommendation: Wait for a decent discount code and order a month to get a feel. (hopefully it arrives somewhat near their claimed dates so you can figure out if you want to do it again or not before the next order date comes up.)

I wouldnt hold 343 Industries responsible because they may have not known how bad LootCrate is quality wise.

The issue is probably 343 signed something like a 5 year contract with LootCrate and they just have to deal with LootCrates failure until contract ends.

I say this is probably the situation because in every other aspect of the Halo universe 343 is doing everything in thier power to make Halo right again.

Given Lootcrate’s track record and less than stellar customer ratings from what I’ve seen, I think 343 kinda deserves some of the blame. But your theory is very probable that 343 is locked into a contract and has no choice.

Regardless of blame, there is something that just feels wrong about how crates work. Since most, if not all, of the items are exclusive to the crate, those who gobble up lore and collectibles are practically forced into getting a subscription (forced may be a strong word, but I can’t think of a better one right now). Then even if the quality of the crates go downhill, those people still have to get the crate or risk missing out on exclusive items. To me it seems like a moral gray area with regards to ethical business practices.

I would have to honor that point. That would make the most logical sense.
LootCrate’s reputation had not fallen as much as it has since the time they most likely signed with them. I would hope that they would have included some stipulation in the contract to form a breach of contract when quality or services suffered enough to remove them from selling licensed merchandise.
I recently went to lootvault and all of their Halo items have been removed, but I do not know if that is coincidence or some action forming there.

I think I am more upset at the lack of response from 343, but you are absolutely right, they are trying to make Halo great.

I concede to Ezio’s point also. That makes the most logical sense with locked in contracts and typically they exist due to marketing costs etc. that are incurred.

As no Lore is coming out of them anymore, I think we are free in clear of being ‘forced’ to getting them. I am trying to finish out this last year (I order month to month due to my distrust in Lootcrate, but the series is coming to an end). I have a hard time with justifying any of it as I begin to make more of my own personal merchandise (t-shirts, 3d printing, etc.)

The hard part is that there is just not a lot of Halo merch out there. Whether you like the stuff or not, it is all we really have to pick from.
Should we be giving kudos to 343 for at least getting us this even though they used such a dispicable outlet, at least we have something? I do think that concept will help me sleep the next time 40$ is pulled from my account for this again.

I do appreciate this thread as I was starting to feel alone about what the heck was happening with these dang crates.

> > > > >
> > > > >
> > > > >

I cancelled all my lootcrate long ago until they launched the Halo box and have suffered through their crap and deteriorating content this whole time in the sake of my love for Halo.

If 343 put out the box, I would hope for a different experience (especially since lootcrate is a garbage company), but they have yet to figure it out on their own or desire to do so. I am chopping it up to a complete disregard for the Haloverse having fans after these money grubbing moves.

> I concede to Ezio’s point also. That makes the most logical sense with locked in contracts and typically they exist due to marketing costs etc. that are incurred.

Im glad to help you guys have a place to vent and voice your opinions on certain topics which this one being loot crate failures. Im glad there are people out there willing to talk about it because it helps me not feel alone on these kind of things as well.

I do agree it seems like the Halo Crate may be coming to an end unless they do something about it (which lootcrate probably wont) quality and lore wise. Also with the lack of Halo merch Im hoping there will be lots of merch being released when Infinite comes out.

The Renegade crate is going to be my last one until I see an improvement of standards from lootcrate.

I’m going to get a few more halo crates just to see what happens. I was entertained in a way when my crate was late, and in edition I’m curious what content they can put out. Because it seems like they are running dry on ideas.

let me know how those turn out.

Just got my next one, they are definitely dry…
Flask, salt and pepper shaker, bandana. Kinda cool, but still a punch in the gut. Got their ‘esclusive’ intel and it was info on banshee that you can find in any book on Halo (Halo encyclopedio etc.)
NOTE: They removed the special big winners prize. Looks like another save money grab. (Never really cared about it, but really just insult to injury at this point.)

@ezio wolfI am still curious as to why they are no longer selling any Halo items in their ‘LootVault’. I checked back and they updated their site, but still no Halo merchandise anymore.

Do you think their contract may be running out and they are slowly leaving them like Disney to Netflix?

Yeah the intell we can just look up, and some of the stuff is just regular things with halo stuff printed on it. Plus they reuse things, like the avatar shirt that we all ready have from past crates. Like, we have the real life shirt, but now the design is a avatar shirt, why not make a new shirt all together for the avatars? I didn’t even realize they removed the mythic crates. Speaking oh which, the last one sucked.

And yeah i bet is that the contract is running out
