At this point, it seems the embargo has been lifted and we’re now going to get drip fed gameplay and information until launch. We’ve seen some really cool stuff, but questions remain over what we have yet to see. I wanted to make a thread for the community to voice any interests you may have regarding loose ends you’d like to see tied up this xmas.
Blue Team: What is their status in Infinite, will they feature prominently in the campaign? Will Chief get to work with his old team again? - Prophets: Where did they go, will they bring the Covenant back? - Prometheans: We haven’t seen any mention of the Forerunner sandbox. If you imagine Halo Infinite as being open world, perhaps the forerunner ruins will function like dungeons - and perhaps the enemy types found within these structures will be promethean as opposed to Banished? Sentinels will certainly be present, but I wonder if they’ll bring back any of the new enemy types they introduced in 4/5? - Flood: Pretty much enough said, it’s been way too long. What else are you curious about? What other loose ends from the other games are you looking to see addressed in the campaign?

The fact that they haven’t been featured in a mainline Halo game in a decade and a half and they compose an integral part of the series?
It sure seems like the first act of this game is going to be us trying to figure out the Blue Team and the Prometheans threads. We will be gathering information about what exactly happened ahead of the start of this game.

They haven’t been featured because the Chief finished the fight with them. Flood firefight would be cool, but I don’t see why the flood need to be reintroduced into the story.

They were a mainline in the trilogy. What reaspn could they magically reappear again? You dont want a stupid in-game line be like
“the flood is back”
“why”
“because”
The Prophets of the Covenant are all dead at least the ones we’ve encountered in the games.
We’re now dealing with The Banished and not The Covenant. Doubt we’ll see anymore Prophets anytime soon.
Blue Team was mentioned in one of the books - Shadows of Reach I believe.
The Flood was dealt with in Halo 3. Not really a loose end or anything that needs concluding. Although considering we’re on Zeta Halo we’ll likely see them again.
The only thing we don’t know is the Prometheans although I believe they’ll probably be in the game, just in a smaller smaller way than in Halo 4 & 5.

With all due respect - How could you advocate against including the flood in Halo? I’m honestly mind boggled that this is something there is any debate about.
The flood would be great to add back that horror element like the OT games had. Doubt we’ll see the prophets ever again unless we get another spin-off game like Reach, Halo Wars, & ODST. There has to be a confirmation in Infinite for Blue Team tho, seeing how we’ve already had an image featuring Locke’s helmet on a Brute’s shoulder and since Chief was with BT in the Shadows of Reach, they’ll most likely appear in Infinite during some point in the story.

Finding out out about Blue Team is something I imagine Infinite will likely address in it’s first act that will lead up to everything we’ve been seeing in the campaign. The prophets are likely never going to come back in force. High Charity being infected and the Great Journey being revealed to be a lie alongside the Schism destroyed any political will the San’Shyuum had. Prometheans I’m sure will have to come back with the Created being a thing. Flood may or may not return. Zeta Halo could have potential for the flood to at least have one or two levels where they appear as an enemy within the Palace of Pain.
As for what I’m curious about:
Banished sub-types: The Banished are made up of many different warlords and I would like to know if that is being reflected in Infinite by having their troops wear slightly different armor or looking different enough to distinguish depending on the Warlord your fighting against.

The Chief blew up 2 Halo rings in a saga that resulted in the defeat of the Gravemind and the Flood at large. All other known instances of the flood are either contained or eradicated. There aren’t any loose ends associated with the Flood as far as I am aware. They haven’t been reintroduced in any meaningful way because their story arc is done. HW2 danced around the idea of reintroducing the Flood only to stuff the genie back into the bottle. The Floods time has come and gone. Chief won, the Gravemind vaporized.

Firing an unfinished Halo ring on the Ark out side of the milky way galaxy after two whole games based on preventing the firing of a Halo ring is far from tying up lose ends. The flood is still very much around. Halo 3’s entire story ark made zero sense and was full of plot holes. Just my opinion.
I don’t see Flood or OG covenant have any kind of role in the base campaign. Can definitely see some kind of expansion with the Flood happening though.
I’m more disappointed that they haven’t revealed a new type of enemy (yet).

Yeah, I would like to know what happened between H5 and Infinite, how Chief got where to where he is, what’s going on with Cortana and the Guardians etc. Personally I think the Banished are a head fake, and the meat of the game will revolve around these questions.

I’d honestly rather see them conserve the old enemy types, and perfect them. Rather than introducing even more new enemies, I say let’s smooth out the three main historical factions Covies/Banished, the Prometheans, and the Flood. Bring back all of the different units from across the games and what not. And then if they’re going to add a new faction, add the Insurrectionists.

The escaped flood, yes.
But there are likely plenty more dormant samples stored on other installations too.
