Looks more futuristic than Reach

I might get slated for this as “Negative” but I like how Halo 4 looks more futuristic than Reach (Which it actually is years wise) Reach was nice great graphics, but I felt like I was on earth not a far off planet light years away from earth. With the new graphics that look “Juicy” , and colorful it looks more in the future, and the environment looks alien like Pandora from Avatar. I do get that some of the “dull” graphics in Reach set the mood of a heroic struggle, but stil felt like Earth not a far off planet. I still like Reach obviously, but this is more a positive than a negative, because we are looking at the future, and the future is Halo 4.

It definitely looks more futuristic, but it also SOUNDS futuristic too. I love the way the game sounds. I especially enjoy the end-game music. It’s like a bellicose symphony.

Yeah the environment seems a lot more romanticized in this up and coming installment.

More futuristic is good.

It’s been getting more modern (excluding the obvious ODST and Reach) and I have hated it. Vehicles ram into walls and the only way to get them moving away is to back up while in CE, bumpy physics adjusted the vehicles. Covie vehicles have less hover height and . Most vehicles are slowed down. Getting out of a vehicle while moving at full speed makes it stop completely. No passenger/gunner health displayed on hud. AI encounters becoming linear/squad based. AI climbing up things (and getting shot at), taking cover against things (easy headshots), charging out into the open instead of staying with me.

I agree OP, I believe 343 are headed in the right direction. Especially when choosing the graphics, art style, and color palette. Sets the right mood for the series.

Futuristic isn’t bad, and I like how alien and new the landscapes in the concept art look. Hopefully there will be a much greater variety of locations in Halo 4.

It’s only natural that the landscapes are much more futuristic than Reach and ODST, however. Halo 4 takes place in a Forerunner world, while Reach and ODST took place on human worlds. Obviously Requiem would have much more futuristic locales than Earth or Reach.

IMO most of the Reachs multiplayer maps didn’t have an ancient or mysterious feel to them. I can already say that Halo 4 has nailed that part.

one thing i didnt like about 3 but liked about reach was the futuristic look…with games like mass effect and crysis out halo has more competition for a cooler looking future …im glad that was further developed in halo 4

That’s because Halo 4 is set farther in the future…

Halo4 is a post-war game (though also a new war game).
The things learned from said war are applied on a grander scale because war isn’t tying up the resources to prevent streamlining, production or distribution.
Well that and by the time we got into Halo’s storyline, not much of humanity was left in the galaxy… Again.

Noble’s armour is based on early modular designs of MJOLNIR armour and that’s why they look clunkier than the Chief’s and his Spartans’ Mk.V armour.
The ships needed designs that lessened production time and so that’s why anything not a Marathon-class cruiser generally looks clunkier than the Infinity. Marathon/Halcyon cruisers are great quick-build designs.
The smaller vehicles lost some clunk and I would suspect that is due to rebuilt production facilities that get to apply changes learned from the war, rather than using existing facilities and models to build machines against an obsolete foe.

I say this with every new Halo besides ODST and Wars, but this is the best-looking one ever.

It’s only with hindsight that I realise that a lot of Reach looked pretty washed out. Entirely intentional, I know, to highlight the planet’s disastrous fate, but it still looked tired after a year or two.

Yes! Eerie…alien…love the sounds/mood when the Crawlers first show up and then the Knight attacks…

It looks futuristic, which is good.

Besides it takes place quite a few years after Reach, so no wonder it’s more futuristic with all the Forerunner tech around.

Well, it is 5 years later xD

Does anyone else find it funny how Forerunners were WAY back when, but they had the best technology and looked most futuristic, etc?

They were WAY ahead of their time and they did knock the humans back to the stone age.
