Personally, I enjoyed the Flood. They add a certain horror feel to the series. But with the introduction of the Forerunner Armiger class(es?) I am ok with this.
I like the Flood too, but I think they’re smart not to bring them back just yet. They’re still fleshing out the Prometheans and, from a story perspective, I think more needs to happen with the current warring factions before the Flood makes its return. With a stronger Forerunner presence this time around, I think they’d be a different beast than the Flood hoardes of old.
I’m rather pleased to see the Flood continue to be absent honestly. While I do love killing my fair share of zombies I’m much more interested in killing Covies and these new Forerunners. Their time is over, they just need to be reminded of that fact.
Gotta keep in mind the Xenomorph Rule when talking about using the Flood: Use them too often and the audience stops seeing them as scary horrific creatures and starts looking at them as mere fodder and/or a common nuisance. ALIEN was creepy as hell, by the time we got to Alien Resurrection all that was heard were yawns of boredom (the poor script and -Yoink- crazy ideas did not help).
I’m a little disappointed since we’ve now technically gone nearly eight years without fighting the Flood (six if you count Halo Wars). I was hoping Halo 5 would be their big return, and 343 would improve them in terms of gameplay and make them stronger. But I’m fine if it means 343 will improve the Prometheans. I just hope that when the Flood do return, they’ll be awesome and terrifying to fight.
Dont worry folks, the Primordial (and 343’s foreshadowing of the future flood threat across books/comics) all but confirmed that the flood will return to test humanity once again when they are ripe for a galactic scale invasion/test. I’m willing to bet the Reclaimer Saga will climax/end around this galactic invasion.
Thank Christ. I’d rather slog through an entire game full of knights duel wielding incineration cannons and binary rifles with unlimited hard light shields that fired 5 rounds every 4 seconds than fight the flood again.

I liked the flood too, but don’t you think bring it back is too soon or unnecessary you destroy them on Halo3 and want it back already, some people will say “i just won the fight with these guys! why are they not dead?”
The history of the furerunner until i read it it was great but in halo 4… for me it was the campaing that i enjoyed less i hope Halo5 will change that or i’ll need to wait until the precursors show again not as the flood but as their original forms
Was the Flood in the original Halos?
Yes? Well, then of course they won’t be in 343’s game.
In a few more iterations, the game will be a pop music, karaoke simulator that comes with a hand-held microphone peripheral with interchangeable skins to allow full colour customization! It’ll be unreal!
Sigh of relief, the flood was easily one of the worst sections of any game ive ever played. Horrible, tedious, annoying. Halo 3 was completely destroyed by their presence.
We just beat them in halo 3! I don’t understand why people are upset of them not returning. We finished the flood in 2552 or 2553…one of those dates and it’s 2558 in halo 5 guardians. They’ll be back. They are fun yes…but I’d rather see a precursor
By the end of Halo 3 I think I’d just about had my fill of the Flood. I wouldn’t mind seeing them come back in some shape or form, but not quite yet. If they do return it has to be an OH S*** moment and I feel like it’s still too soon for that to work.
