My biggest regret is not knowing much about Spartan Companies during Halo 5’s prime. I spent most of my time playing with a few friends without realizing that there was a much wider group of people willing to actively play the game. I joined a company near the middle of 2017 and had the honor of playing with a person I met called Calibration, Imagine my surprise when I realized that I didn’t need to stick to solo-queueing when my friends weren’t online. I enjoyed a few months of playing with them, participating in 6-12 stacks and enjoying having a team of people that I could consistently rely upon to carry their weight. Unfortunately, soon after I began playing RSS competitively and missed out on meeting many other like-minded people.
Now that I’ve come back to the game recently I’ve realized that those friendships would have vital as many of the people who ran in those circles are the only ones continuing to play the game. The few friends I made while in a Spartan Company either have stopped playing after reaching 152 or are on for a very short amount of time. The result is resorting back to my initial style of solo-queueing in Warzone. Bearable before by having a population flush with at least competent teammates, the situation is now unbearable as matchmaking repeatedly places me against 6stacks of aforementioned serious players and/or their smurfs. I enjoyed the challenge at first, a good game is one that goes down to the wire even if it results in a loss, but my reservoir of wasps, banshees, and whiplashes are gone and I’ve resigned myself to the inevitability of losing these games terribly. This post is a hail mary of sorts to anyone who still consistently plays, send me an invite, add me as a friend, I’ll look forward to playing with you.
