Frustrated about the BTB net code but just played a great game of Fiesta on Launch Site.
This map is fantastic, makes me think of lockout and terminal combined, the vehicle play was good, loved the asymmetry and long lines of sight combined with CQC and open spaces, high and low ground. lifts can suck but in this case they play a great role and are relatively sheltered. It’s a little bit of a shooting gallery which is why I suspect the vehicles will add a lot to the fun.
I’ve been playing plenty of BTB and I think fragmentation is my least favorite for everything but 2-flag. The power weapon rooms are neat but I wish they had better weaponry more often.
Oh and high ground, when one team has 2 wasps and their are no launchers besides that flame thing. This is stupid and I hate it.
But overall good job on the maps, wish there were more
Gonna continue some of these thoughts. Launch site I wish the grav lift had another entrance inside the elbow, and the bunker was higher and without a window.
My main problem with Launch Site is that it’s too big and boring for 4v4 slayer, and barely suited to One Flag. It’s big enough that it should be 6v6 rather than 4v4.
Similarly Behemoth is so big that you can’t even mark enemies with the ping from one tower to the next if you’re on the vehicle spawns, yet you can spend minutes at a time chasing each-other for kills in slayer. It should at least be 5v5 in most situations.
Both maps would be good candidates for FFA Oddball with 8+ players, but that’s not in any of the playlists at the moment.
edit: While I’m thinking of it, Aquarius’ & Bazaar symmetry is nice (being the most symmetrical maps) but since they’re reflected and not mirrored perfectly it lends itself to a lot of wins due to easier to accomplish grenade banks, since all grenade and equipment uses are left-handed.
Most BTB maps are completely asymmetrical and the differences can stack up in a way where even the most symmetrical one Fragmentation results in a lot of potentially tide turning spots to guard objectives from simply due to differences in the terrain geometry.

I agree I would love to see some of those maps with higher player counts, although part of what I enjoy about lockout is the large open spaces with side channels. in 4v4 this allows for more distant kengagements where with more people i imagine it moves toward cqc. 5v5 would be a nice number. would love to see one flag BTB on it, that sounds like a blast.
Behemoth is interesting the hill control is fun as both defenders and attackers, would be interesting with more people certainly. it’s a great map for CTF I think. vehicles can be hard to deal with.
Interesting point about the handedness, applies also to visibility as weapons block a portion of the screen. What’s an example of a truly symmetrical map?
