Iv always been a specialist at 3v3 party. Haven’t played competitive in two years, although the standard nowadays is poor.
To be good at this game you have to rush and be effective at rushing.

Rushing takes all the fun out of the game.
Besides Halo wars is a RTS game, the S standing for strategy.
Strategy means long term
Rushing is not long term
Therefore if you rush, you’re not a very good Halo wars player…

Strategy: ‘A plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim.’
Rushing is the aim to cripple your opponents economy or slow their build in order to go ahead of them. You’ll realise that strategy forms around whatever you do in a game, not rushing is a passive strategy.
If you have difficulty defending and countering a rush, it makes a you a very weak player. You most likely have a very low APM (actions per minute).
rushing is less fun though. its too quick. i can generally reflect a rush, but id rather not have to because i like skilled enemies that keep the game going. rushing, while yes being scummy is a strategy. however if you play only as forge and play with thousands of grizzlies, you probably dont have a strategy besides to send tanks in and hope they work.
Rushing may seem less ‘fun’ in lower-skilled matches, since it is pretty much a win button. Players don’t know what to do when they get attacked before they have a full pop of grizzlies or hawks, so they rage quit and label it a cheap tactic. Once you learn to rush effectively and defend rushes, you’ll start to get into the mid-skilled and even higher-skilled matches. Rushing becomes much more frequent but the games can drag out for a long time. A game can be both long and fast-paced, which is much better than long and wait-until-I-have-a-full-army-before-attacking paced.

agreed. i still dont like mass heavy unit users though, whether my quad mac obliterates them or not. its just a nuisance
I used to be high level 3 years ago. But I am now playing a game with in real life friends. Please add me as it would be good to get other good players, or other people who want to learn to play with us.

Always fun to read posts like this. I dont know if your familiar with Strategy games. But the key is to put constantly pressure at the enemy. Not our fault that you are not skilled enough to defend a small “delay rush”.
Rushing is stupid and takes all the fun out of Halo Wars. Anyone who rushes just wants to finish the game ASAP and doesn’t really know how to play Halo Wars. Plus, you practically get no points for rushing what-so-ever.

Uh huh. That, or you just love to ruin other player’s fun.

Do you honestly think that’s what these ‘noob rushers’ are thinking?
Don’t get mad, get better. If Ensemble had intended you to not get rushed, they would have put a big barrier across the middle of the map which disappeared after 15 minutes.
The fact is, your opponent is free to do whatever he wants from the second the game starts. If you don’t like it, find players who don’t like rushing and play custom games. But you’ll never develop as a player, and you’ll never truly understand the balance of the game.
You have to earn the right to high tech units, they’re not just given to you. No rush is unstoppable. You have to learn to defend them. You have to understand your opponent has sacrificed his economy to rush you and that if you defend it well enough, you’ll be ahead.
