Halo CE and Halo 2 you can only do 2 people max for campaign. Halo 3, ODST( if you have it) and Halo 4 you can go up to 4 people.

well yeah i have the halos its the complete collection forum we are on rn and really you cant play with 4 people on campaign??

As MasterCh1ef87 has said, Halo CE and Halo 2 only support 2-player co-op in campaign. All of the other campaigns support up to four players.
