Why not ask for some tips on how to be better?
So, I don’t think I’m what you’re looking for, but what you want to look for in a private match, as a mid-level player, is someone who can teach you. I know you’re just wanting a good, competitive match with some equally skilled players, but I want to stress that you try to find players much better than you to learn from. Playing equally skilled teams is not a good way to become better, you always want to have a goal ahead of you. Howevere, losing is usually the best way you find out what you’re doing wrong, which kind of sucks.
I know this isn’t too much of a reply for you, but it’s some food-for-thought. This game never really opens up until you start to see a place for yourself as a high level player and I’d recommend you instead ask for good players to help you get better.

So, tips would help you best if you were playing with someone. Of course, asking general questions is why you would come here, but building order, micro, and reaction ability are all things that happen best in-game.
Also, btw, about the “good, fair game” you are asking for. Are you referring to no rushing? (if yes, be ready to defend yourself, lol)
