Look sensitivity help

Hey halo community, I have not got around to playing halo 5 all that much because I had no money for an Xbox one but I have finally picked one up. Anyway the most recent halo I have played besides 5 was halo 4, and the sensitivity and all the settings were great. However after picking up halo 5 and playing I realized the settings were very different and I was having a very hard time aiming. Can anyone who has a relative good understanding of how all this stuff works let me know how to get my look controls to be most similar to those of halo 4? There are quite a few settings from what I see, including the new vertical and horizontal sensitivity introduced in the reach update as well as acceleration controls that are hard to get just right. Your help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Just leaving my mark here to come back when someone answers this. I would like to know recommendations.

I personally use the Halo 4 button layout because it based off of Reach’s controls which I like.

My sensitivity settings are customized to
3.5 Vertical
7 Horizontal
5 Acceleration

This might be a little bit fast for some people but the movement feels smooth instead of choppy if you are good with minor tweaks/nudges on the stick you aim with. Also this set up is good if something catches you off guard up close in front of you which can help you quickly recover your aim on target especially with precision weapons. Also the higher sensitivy helps you turn around to deal with targets that just appeared behind you.

Play around with what feels comfortable and don’t be afraid to test things.
I play 4 sensitivity & 2 acceleration. The acceleration is super ridiculous in this game, the way it makes the camera spin is out of control.
Some people like high acceleration ^ but I prefer controls similar to the feel of the old games.

Aim sensitivity is self-explanatory in terms of what it does. I’d recommend the 3-5 range. The main reason being with high sensitivities I feel you’re not maximizing your stick. For the most part right stick aiming shouldn’t require moving your crosshair all over the place, as much of it can be done with the left stick. So by jacking up your sensitivity you just end up using less available right stick “space”. Phrased differently, you have less finer aim movement to work with. But some people might disagree.

Aim acceleration alters the speed at full input/full stick. If you aren’t applying the max input it’s irrelevant. It’s primarily for sweeping your crosshair to targets and looking around during movement. You just have to play around to find what works best. I believe 2 is most similar to past halo games.

The inner deadzone adjusts the amount of input you have to apply before your stick movement registers as input. Short of a bad controller set it to 0 percent.

The outer deadzone can be thought of as an inverted inner deadzone. It essentially lowers how much motion you have to apply to your stick to hit full input. I use 0 percent for it for similar reasons to the aim sensitivity logic above. Setting it higher just cuts into your workable stick space. Feel free to experiment with it though.

The horizontal/vertical adjustment is personal preference.
