Longest dry run in Halo history

With it looking like Halo Infinite won’t be releasing for likely another 2 years at least, it’d be the longest dry run in Halo history without a new mainline title, since the original there’s been a new mainline Halo game every 3 (or 2) years.
Halo CE: 2001, Halo 2: 2004, Halo 3: 2007, Halo Reach: 2010, Halo 4: 2012, Halo 5: 2015.
For most people Halo 5 has already long run out of steam at this point, and unless there’s a secret spinoff in the works, Halo Infinite coming out around 2020 would be pretty hurt, I just hope we can all hang on to the Halo hype train that long, I dunno if the new improved MCC will keep everyone at bay.

It’d be nice to seethe Halo IP licensed out to other developers for spinoffs, like a Ratchet & Clank style Grunty action platformer.
Just to branch out a bit, really make Halo Microsoft’s Mario.

I think you are underestimating the potential popularity of an updated MCC. People went crazy for Halo: Online: a buggy, unfinished fan revival of a failed F2P Halo game. Installation 01 has attracted a ton of positive buzz and I see people get really excited by every little update those guys show. Part of that might just be the long dormant Halo PC community wanting something but I believe it’s more a sign how much the community as a whole wants a polished classic Halo experience. Even as someone who loves Halo 5 I can’t deny that I’m super excited for the MCC update. Oh and it’s coming out for the Game Pass soon, so that will boost player numbers like crazy.

I don’t think we will lack for stuff to do while waiting for Infinite to come out. Let 343 take their time and create something special.

It’s a good excuse to catch up on those 'cheevements

Just a note, I dont think Halo: Reach is a mainline Halo game though you could mean something else.

As for the longest break. Definitely from a FPS Halo game but I think its a positive thing. Quality needst time no ifs or buts to it and time gives it at least a chance to be a good game.

And I think there will be people who will be waiting to see what kind of game the next Halo will be given Halo is rather large franchise.

It definitely still seems like a ways away yet. I feel like if they had anything substantial to show in terms of gameplay it would’ve been at E3. But I’d rather have a good HI than another H5.

On your other point, I would LOVE to see other developers take Halo to new genres and put their own spin on it. Maybe since Microsoft just acquired Ninja Theory they could make a sick third person action game.

I honestly think halo infinite will come out fall 2019. That’s 1.5 years. Gears of war will be spring 2019 then halo fall 2019. Perfect for Microsoft to dominate year 2019.

And it’ll be even longer. Probably 2020 honestly.

At least we’ll have a fixed MCC soon.

yep makes sense

Why count Reach as a mainline title and not ODST? Also what about Halo Wars 1 and 2? Also, Halo 5’s monthly content drops exceeded its lifespan, so saying Halo has had a “dry spot” simply isn’t true. Halo Wars 2 is just over a year old. If your going by main title Halo games, the driest spell was between Halo 3 and 4.

I counted Reach as a mainline Halo game because it had all the makings of one, it was the big main studio project, had full fleshed out multiplayer with ranking, matchmaking, DLC, and re-vamped the armor system.
Between 3 and 4 might have been a dry spell for Master Chief specifically, but not for Halo FPS multiplayer games.

I’ve always thought a Fuzion Frenzy style Halo Party game would be awesome especially considering the lack of that genre of game this generation.
