I have hated this in Halo 4 and it has yet to be fixed. If i get killed and drop my (insert weapon here) i should get more than the 12 seconds to get it back.
Even if i kill a guy and i wait to get my shields back and move to get their weaponi shouldn’t be hearing the Troll Song as i get closer to the weapon and look at its troll face as if vanishes right before me eyes.
Weapons used to sit on the ground in H3 forever, allowing you time to go back and get it even if you respawned across the map. I’ve no kidding been 3 feet away from a weapon I dropped in Halo 4 about to retrieve it and watched it vanish… sooooo frustrating.

Which then raises the question, why not reduce the ammo not the despawn times?

It was implemented because of the almost constant weapon drops from PoDs. And instant respawn too I suppose.
If you want the weapon despawn back to normal, the PoDs will have to be tweaked to not include power weapons. At least that’s how I see it. More of a personal gripe with PoDs in general but that’s off topic.
Id like to see the despawn timer increased again because in non-Infinity game types, they still despawn quiet quickly. Couple this with the fact you have to wait x amount of seconds, the weapon could already be gone by then.

This was the reasoning 343 gave. They wanted to avoid every one on the map having power weapons considering the new POD mechanics. But this is a very indirect way to do it. The better solution would have been to reduce the ammo so that power weapons deplete quickly, meaning there won’t be as many in play.
No, suspect the reasoning was that they didn’t want players stealing power weapons too often and there for punishing the player who called it in. I suspect it was an accessibility thing. They wanted to give the sniper excessive ammo so that players are not punished too much for missing shots and they didn’t want newer players punished too much for loosing the weapons.

lol I meant to put it doesn’t change how frustrating it is… i need to change that. I guess your comment just became irreverent… a bit awkward. IMO

Can you support a link.
Also it sounds a bit rubbish to give the ammo only for new players because you are only new to a game for about a week. Why create a system that is only for new players that affects the majority who are vets. After a week of playing you understand the game maybe two. But its not like it will take months to understand strafing and aiming.
Why tweak Personal ordnance? I hated that mechanic, so overpowered sometimes and honestly longer despawn times would make me much happier than any power weapon raining from the sky. (Take out PO, put in longer weapon despawns)

It just doesn’t happen with ordinance it happens with all weapons which is BS. Even in Spartan Ops.

Spartan Ops is where it really conveys it’s true evil. I can’t agree more with that.
On a side note, I’ve always wanted the ability to edit an object’s despawn time with Forge and/or Custom Games. I tried to make a Ricochet Variation that used Soccer Balls instead of Oddballs, and the Soccer Ball’s twelve second despawn time canceled out any fun that could be achieved.

First, MEGA LOL
Second, that sounds like a badass idea that was stopped.
