I’m in the technical preview, I still sort of wished that they made the TTK longer and more solid, (5-shot BR kill instead of 4). I also wish the movement and firing speeds were much slower and more weighted.
But, I think at this point this is the direction they are looking to aim towards.
Why would you want a 5 shot BR?
Feels more like what Halo should be. A longer and more involved chess match with giant Spartans engaging in drawn-out, but decisive firefights, not like the fast-paced COD game that it’s turned out to be.

The TTK on the BR is precisely the same as halo 3 its perfect.
Yes, but I think the firerate of the BR went up, not sure about this. But, if you’ve played the technical preview they have right now, everything feels a bit too fast, including the movement speed, which feels very fluid.
I agree with nutella i think the TTK is just fine and as far as movement speed alot of people are asking for a speed buff which i disagree with but sliding needs work or needs to be taken out IMO.

Movement speed should be fast these are supersoldiers so obviously, it makes sense. It’s been tested the H3 Br has the same TTK as the infinite Br.
All in all, I just personally think Halo should be a slower game, but I guess people feel differently about this. I’m assuming one of the reasons they increased the speed of everything was to raise the skill ceiling and to avoid deadlocked or stalemated matches. But there are ways to increase the skill gap and to avoid deadlocked matches without having to simply turn up the speed on everything.
One way would be to increase the firing inaccuracy of the weapons (increase the recoil spread so that players would have to adjust to developing more muscle memory towards a more complex and larger recoil spread).
Another would be to introduce more equipment/weapons such as the already present recon device they have in the preview to help break deadlocked positions, and defeat campers around corners or stallers behind walls.
'Cause obviously, if the game is too slow, it eventually becomes deadlocked at the highest levels. Maybe not in practice since whoever fires first wins but in terms of feel. Though like I mentioned there are ways to work around that while keeping the original feel of Halo intact.
To be clear on the direction you want to take something in terms of design is important. I suppose this is what they want.
I would like a longer TTK as well. Everyone talks about how imba the halo 1 pistol was, but back then players would actually miss. Weapons need nerfs to match the improvements in skill and technology (better mice/framerates/resolutions). Quake 3 used used to have 160dps on it’s tracking gun, then it dropped to 140fps 7 years later, and then another 7 years or so and it dropped to 120dps. The sniper also dropped 20% dps, and the projectiles were buffed (in speed). Still the hitscan are as strong as ever. Look at the hitboxes in CS, or the AWP scope time/movement speed.
Halo CE worked online pretty well back in the day (PC) because players would miss A LOT. Even the best players. This was partly because of the netcode, partly because of the ball mice we were using, partly because the game had no hitscan, and partly cos nobody had a clue (people thought vsync or even 30fps capped was great, 5cm to do a 360 etc). I distinctly remember the competitive scene getting a lot more stale around 2007 as more players got better internet, better PCs, and a better understanding of the strategy.
Back then, a good player could actually kill 2 good players in open space, sometimes…because people would actually miss.

The TTK for headshots with the BR is the exact same as Halo 3. I’m not sure what you are talking about.

The BR is relatively the same, but there’s a difference if you go body shots; however, that difference is minor. As for the other weapons they’re all exceedingly fast with the pulse carbine capable of two tapping.

Here we go. They’ve said it. Halo turned out to be “COD”. Oh boy. I’m beginning to wonder if anyone who says this has played COD. You’re talking about MILISECONDS TTK in Cod vs Halo’s SECONDS.
Cod is called a “Twitch” shooter for a reason. The TTK in base cod (Excluding warzone) can be faster than many peoples ability to even react. Hell even Warzone has extremely fast TTK compared to halo.
Halo rewards Body body body HEAD
Cod is Put 4 bullets in the guy and he’s dead.
Halo isn’t and has never been COD paced. There have been some aspects BORROWED, like Halo 4’s ordinance system compared to Kill streaks, but that’s about as far as it ever went.
Please stop using the COD argument.
If you WANT to compare shooters, that’s fine.
But you’re going to find the TTK in pretty much EVERY game is either as fast as Halo or FASTER (Even Apex at full armour can be faster. The difference though is weapons are all projectile save for the beam sniper).
I agree about the higher time to kill, but I think movement is absolutely perfect as is. What I think really needs to be addressed is turning up aim assist a little or adjusting look acceleration; or whatever is causing mine and plenty of others’ aim to be a little off on some of the guns.
