I’m sure I’m saying what many people are also thinking, but I wanted to make sure my voice was heard by 343 / Microsoft (as we all should). I’m done with MCC until the game is completely fixed.
I’ve been playing Halo since Combat Evolved and have done a midnight release for every Halo game since, except for Halo 4. I’ve spent countless hours attaining high ranks through legitimate play (lvl 22 H2 before reset, lvl 50 H3 in Lone Wolves) and I’ve shared many a snack-laden night LANing with friends (we used to do something called ‘CGF’ - Custom Games Friday). Halo is a fond memory, and the games are still incredibly fun, more so than nearly any modern AAA game I’ve played in the last few years.
And this is why it’s so amazingly frustrating to try to play MCC. There’s all of this amazing content, and it’s so hard to enjoy because of how broken everything is.
I had two friends over the other day and we connected with several more online the night of the “patch” to relive the glory days of partied matchmaking. Over the course of four or so hours we might have played 5 games. In between those games was a series of incredibly frustrating experiences: parties being randomly disbanded, changing party leaders, force-quitting the game so we could party up again, load-screen boots, and way too much time sitting waiting for a match. How could a game possibly ship like this? 343, did you even try to play it yourselves? There are issues with the game that I saw within minutes of first playing: 1th place and no ability to change party leader? Yes, both are fixed now, but how did you miss this the first time around if you actually played the game?
MCC is the most broken Halo launch the franchise has ever seen (technically that’s not saying much, as under Bungie’s care, every launch was flawless, sans the Halo 3 beta). I can’t spend any more time being frustrated, rolling the dice to try to unlock the fun that’s right there on the disk. I will not be playing again until this game is completely fixed.
