My brother and I have been playing Halo since 2001, love the teamwork aspect of the game and are seeking like minded (patient, well spoken, no trash talk) players from the mid-west and eastern U.S. to play with us. We only play Halo. We’ve had little to no luck meeting people through matchmaking.
We are not interested in any clans or links to websites, please do not clutter this thread or waste yours or my own time.
Having that out of the way here is some more about us:
We have played Halo since it came out in 2001 and have been hooked. Our 3/4 player team played Halo CE at LAN parties, tournaments as well as vLAN tournaments and went on to play against the best players in the world (at the time) and more than held our own. We were already adults in careers at the time so not only did we not pursue it beyond that, besides my brother, our team mates went their own ways. We have not found consistent players to fill that role since Halo 3, so we only play on the slightly serious side of casual now. We like to win, but don’t like playing with pretentious jerks… we would rather meet good-natured people who are interested in working together and learning. We almost exclusively play Slayer game types.
A little more about me:
After my Halo team started to dwindle, I went on to play racing games/sims. I actually reached pro level playing Forza 2 and 3. If you played those games you may have seen my name on the leaderboards there as I held the #1 hot lap record on roughly 100 tracks across various classes. I won a number of tournaments, peaking at the Championship Gaming Series, filmed live at SXSW in 2008. In 2010 I “retired” from racing games so I could focus on work and life more. Not entirely relevant to playing Halo as it is, my point in sharing this is to show that we have the ability to play at a high level.
Now my brother and I are playing Halo again, and plan on playing quite a bit through the winter. We very much would like to find a few players who just click with us and can win through strategy, intelligence and teamwork.
What we are looking for:
First and foremost we have to get along. We mostly keep it clean and don’t want to hear about trashy things. We do not care about or want to constantly hear about beverages you consume or substances you abuse. What you do is your prerogative… we just don’t care to hear about it. It’s also a must that you are well spoken. We are adult gamers and while that is preferred, I’m OK with 16 and up as long as you are well mannered and intelligent. We game with both guys and gals, so you must be respectful of that… we don’t tolerate anyone who talks down to anyone. With that being said, ladies are welcome too. Having a microphone is a must!
Second, we are looking for people from the mid-west or eastern U.S. This is for two reasons, one for latency issues, second so we can be online at the same times. We are from the Detroit area. If you don’t fit this bill perhaps we can see how it goes, but if we feel it drags us into more frequent laggy games it won’t work.
Third, but not to be understated, Patience. For the love of all things… patience. We desire this in a team mate so much and are desperate to find it again! Games are won with map control and awareness. We cannot be aware if we cannot predict how you will play, so no run and gun players. Games are also won by going positive (or at the very least going even as long as you get assists), even if that means the game timer ends the game because we will not give up a strong hold just to end the game quicker. We do not care about achievements, what armor you have unlocked or commendations. We don’t care who gets the most points or who gets the most kills even. We certainly don’t care about your stance. We play this game because we enjoy the game-play. We play because the team work is exciting and we like to win when we execute it.
We don’t need you to be the best player in the world as long as you can mesh with us and learn. Who knows, you might teach us a thing or two as well. Although we like to win, it is not everything.
