Seriously what’s the point of having both of these weapons? BR spread is so tight it’s basically 1 bullet shots rather than 3 and the long shot version has the dmr scope. So isn’t basically pointless the have both weapons that now work exactly alike? Oh br is 4sk so why would anyone choose a dmr over the long shot br? It would make sense to have the dmr be an upgraded version of the BR in warzone. (Same ttk but longer range with attachments the long shot br would be the dmr itself)

They put it in the game because they wanted to. Every gun doesn’t have to have a totally unique niche to fill. Most shooters have dozens on guns which all function more or less the same way. A few guns with some overlap doesn’t hurt anything, but simply gives players more variety in guns they can choose from.
Just seems like a downgrade to the DMR to me.

The thing is that true Halo has never had weapons so similar. 343i is slowly turning Halo into every other FPS game out there.

battlefield 4 has a great multiplayer and has 6+ guns in every section, and most function very similarly. The scoped BR might be better for long ranged maps or maybe some players prefer the more scoped classic BR look, whereas others may like the more holographic/iron sights on the regular BR (which is what I prefer).

If that were the case they wouldn’t have brought back arena. It adds more variety.

Then play arena or BTB (when the gamemode comes out). If you do not want to play warzone,you do not have to. -_-
2 things could be different between the DMR and BR. They could have different scopes and reticles(A red dot vs a circle). Second they could have different sounds. I’m just speculating. But those two thing can make a difference in enjoyment for any given person.
Why not ? Some people prefer the BR to the DMR and will use this over the standard BR. Warzone seems to be 343 going “you know all that stuff we couldnt do because of balancing and stuff ? Well -Yoink- it, were going to make a game mode, shove all of it in and see what comes out”.
You also have to take into account that warzone is not the only game mode in Halo 5. About half of H5’s multiplayer is played in the arena, where there is less overlap due to the lack of weapon modifications. Yes, warzone creates some gray areas as far as weapon niches are concerned, but that is not a good reason to remove the DMR from the rest of multiplayer where the niches are much less open to interpretation. Plus, a similar argument can be made in the opposite direction, as there is also a DMR variant in warzone with a dot sight that is identical to the vanilla BR’s sight.

bf4 has like 20 guns in each section lol
It’s about having fun in Warzone.
You can sell every card you don’t like, buy more Req. packs and stock up on just 1 type of weapon… Or you can use them all as though YOU ARE THE WEAPON and the tool rested on your shoulder matters not.
All in Warzone!
If you go for a modded BR that can make it work like a DMR.
Then the DMR guy can have a modded DMR that does that PLUS MORE.
Its only in warzone and the point of it is just for fun. It can be redundant it can be pointless, its only purpose is the same as warzone itself.

Yes but the idea of casuals and fans of other shooters having fun is awful, even if it doesn’t effect the arena players in the slightest.

Yeah, “True Halo” only had one useful weapon and a dozen redundancies.

Because some people just prefer BR over DMR and vice versa. I like the BR more just cause it feels better to me it does less damage but shoots faster than the DMR it just depends on the player really. I like the battle rifle but 2 of my friends prefer DMR.
