Long Comteplated Addition

Swimming. Spartans should be able to swim, if they are still not able to swim by the 4th generation then I do not want to be alive around this era of Humanity! LOL.

But seriously. Think of the Oceanic armor they released. This could possibly point to swimming. But most likely not. Also! Boats! Other than the dingy. I remember Bungie saying something about them ALMOST adding boats (I think to Reach, maybe 3) but they said they couldn’t get the water physics down.
I know many people can say, “well obviously they know how to swim they’re super soldiers.”
But remember, these Spartans were taken at a young age. These Spartan IV’s are volunteers, they are Marines and ODST’s (I think) signing up for this program. That said, they should know how to swim and it should be implemented into the game.

Anyway, just a thought. I know this has been asked for, for a long time. I would like to see everyone’s thoughts.

> Spartan III’s could swim in their suits. Spartans trained underwater as well. I’m sure they could swim.

Forgot to add that as well, but thanks to truekill83 for reminding me. I read Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, on Pegasi Delta, Tom and Lucy were swimming, so obviously Spartans know how.

Just one more thing. 343i, please, and I mean PLEASE bring back the Security armor. Not the Halo: Reach style, but the Halo 3 style. Just saying, it should be unlocked for people who own Marathon: Durandal XBLA Version.

They literally way a ton, I don’t think they could swim…

This is true and I considered that, but they could have some sort of floatation AA.

Spartan III’s could swim in their suits. Spartans trained underwater as well. I’m sure they could swim.

I like boats.

I don’t think a half tone metal man should be able to swim, I do think I water jet AA could be cool. Also I’m pretty sure spartan suits can increase their buoyancy.

no… thats a bungie game. I know its a joke but no…

also swimming AA is just, no thank you…

Spartans in this gen should be able to swim, but that armor might weigh them down a slight bit.

Boats would be annoying to use. I would honestly prefer something like the falcon, only you could seat the maximum number of occupants. Having five seats but only filling three is ridiculous. It’s a transport for a damn reason.

I could see them doing an APC-type Boat, but it isn’t likely.

Ignoring the realism, atmosphere, and other gimmicks brought by Spartans being able to swim, what effect would swimming have on gameplay? All swimming would accomplish is the ability for map-makers to put spots on the map in which you can’t shoot and you move more slowly. There is very little, if any, practical use for it. It’s with that in mind that I say that the addition of swimming is a far cry from a “long needed addition.”

Why? I think it would be awesome. Not a swimming AA, sounds kind of stupid, but something like a water jet pack that shouts you in the direction you move the analog stick.

I doubt it. Problem with water is you can’t jump or move as quickly, and if you can dive that makes a lot more problems with movement and shooting, and maybe hijacking surface vehicles. Also, water is much more difficult to implement usefully in all maps than jetpack. Every map would have to have a useful water feature, which I think be very unrealistic. I know in BF3 you could use boats and travel around the map, but you very rarely encountered someone to kill with the boat’s turret. Personally, I think water would have to be a central element in core gameplay for it to be included in Halo.

MC not Auqaman

It’s funny when MC just walks under the water anyway…

> Spartan III’s could swim in their suits. Spartans trained underwater as well. I’m sure they could swim.

I remember in the book “Ghosts of Onyx”, that Kurt actually walked the bottom of a river and hid under a cropping of rocks until the enemy left.

EDIT: I also think that he did that in his SPI armor.

I doubt that Spartans can swim, but I know that they have had experience underwater.
Maybe with the new MK-VII armor they possibly can.

I would think that with the introduction of the Oceanic armor that underwater activity is hinted at. Either by swimming, diving in great depths, or being at the controls of a manned submersible vehicle.

I also don’t doubt that the new armor may have some sort of buoyancy stabilizer similar to a submarine’s.

They probably can swim, but there is no use for it in match making.

Im not going to run into the sea and start having an underwater battle with someone when we can just shoot each other on land - it is absolutely pointless.

It also creates nice, natural boundaries for maps. Id rather be limited by a beautiful looking ocean than by a 10-second counter that pops up for no reason when I enter a certain patch of grass.

I have a comment to add about: things that weigh a ton that cannot swim. Star Wars Aqua Droids.
