If you wanted a game mode that calls for extra sweaty, player vs. everyone, this is the game mode for you. Otherwise, don’t bother playing Halo Infinite at all.
What has this game become? A game mode where I can’t even queue in with my friends? So stupid… It literally promotes the opposite of the foundation of this game, which is to get as many as your friends as possible to play with you. But instead, we need to queue in solo and play this crap. I haven’t enjoyed a single game of this mode. I don’t even care if I “unlock” another piece of armor. RIP Halo…
This season focuses on FFA modes when it comes to events that are not tied to the Fractures.
Next season will likely do something akin to that as well, focusing on a certain type of mode to go with the theme of the season.
Who knows, perhaps next season sees Firefight be introduced and we get an ODST-stylized armor core to go with it? Helljumper Gen-3 or something of the sort?
Or perhaps the Mark IV and we see BTB be the focus of the season as Halo Wars games were essentially BTB but with commanders ordering armies around?
How “Sweaty” a game mode is generally dependent on how serious a players wants to play it, not on the game mode itself. IT just happens that one player playing extra hard will sort spill onto other players as well, in order to at least do decently.
Do any of the FFA game modes allow you to queue with friends? You’re suppose to be playing by yourself after all. I presume 343i doesn’t want people partying up and using third party software to communicate between each other so they can team up and stomp everyone else in the match either.
FFA matches also have been in the Halo franchise since Halo 1, so it’s not really going against the foundation of the game either. It’s just doing what FFA games modes generally do, be free for all matches.
Was playing on Highpower earlier all I did was repulsed people into a big hole it was pretty funny won the game after I upgraded a bit and left my cave.
Watched the video back cause it was just funny found a guy who hid the whole game and did nothing he’d crouch and hide then someone would find him it was sad.
His last death was by the closing circle he paniced right into the same pit I repulsed people in.
When I played, I personally just played to do well, but not to win. The harder you try to be the winner, he harder it hits when you don’t win. Since this is a FFA game mode, your chances of winning are pretty stacked uppon you to lose, since only one of the what, 16 other players can actually win.\
Why I generally don’t enjoy FFA’s that often ( Will admit I could tolerate this game mode oddly enough ). I stick to BTB. Not as stress inducing lol.
It’s mostly because most of the early weapons in LSS suck. Disruptor needs 6 out of 10 of the bullets of the mag to get a kill. Sidekick needs 7 out of 12 bullets of a mag to get a kill. Commando has horrible recoil and also a small mag.
Disruptor doesn’t need full auto, but has it. Sidekick needs full auto, but doesn’t have it.
Honestly, the only fun weapons in LSS are the AR, the BR, the Bulldog and the sword.
So I agree, it totally sucks. This game desperately needs good precision weapons: Carbine, Magnum and DMR. I’m happy the DMR comes back, but I’m just worried it will be altered in some horrible way: rate of fire, mag, recoil, et cetera.
Maybe it’s an ironic jab at “survival of the fittest” fallacy that doesn’t have a financial incentive.
Imagine being the best LSS player and not participating in a Twitch streamed E-Gaming event with a cash prize.
I’ve just played a few games today. First time in a little while.
Actually quite enjoyed them.
The new weapon line up works well. The disruptor is an excellent starting point. It’s accurate enough at the right range… and it’s harder for people to run from you because their shields don’t recharge as quickly.
The only blip is the sidekick. It kind of feels like a little backward step.
Their seems to be less camo and OS at the end which is good. And people are taking risks for the extra XP now that the sword is up for grabs.
I’m still not sure I’d play a lot outside of the event. But kudos to 343… they are definitely tweaking in the right direction.
But I hope 343i hears the feedback from the many, many of us who strongly dislike this gametype. Events should be more fun for everyone; they shouldn’t pigeon-hole players who don’t enjoy a certain mode into playing it exclusively to grind challenges to earn limited time event cosmetics.
The entire challenge system has this issue where it almost inevitably forces you to play modes you don’t enjoy to advance (unless you enjoy every mode, in which case, good for you). I really do think player retention would be at least a bit better if people didn’t feel like the game was forcing them to do things that aren’t fun every week to earn their Ultimate Rewards. Events like this are even more offputting for folks who don’t enjoy the mode they center on. Grinding is inevitably a bit of a chore, even when you’re enjoying all the things you’re doing. It just gets way more arduous when you have to complete challenges that force you to engage with the game in ways you don’t enjoy.
This is a problem. Halo is many things for many people.
While I am warming to LSS - I am dreading upcoming events that will likely focus around game types such as Infection and Grifball. I don’t like the former, and really, really don’t like the latter.
But they will come. And I will play something else while those who dig those game types have their moment in the sun.
Maybe 343 need an alternative route to the weekly prize. An amount of XP that you can grind to earn it independent of the event. Even if it meant having to grind double or triple the XP requirement of the event.
I know they’ve hinted they’re working on a long-term comprehensive redesign on the progression and challenge systems, which is encouraging. Hopefully they take a lot of this into account when they do…
It’s just not an awesome system if it locks cool content behind challenges and modes that are actively unenjoyable to the player. For different players, that will mean different things, so it’s inevitable that putting events and challenges into the games that rely on playing specific ways will always be un-fun for at least some players.
A straight-up, old school exp style grind for weeklies and event unlocks is uninspired but would be a big improvement IMO.
I won 3/5 last man standing yesterday. Guess I’m sweaty? No one is forcing you to play a single player multiplayer mode. The only reward is whatever the lame weekly reward is. Regardless… it’s an online shooting game. EVERYTHING about that yells sweaty. Its like the core foundation of Halo. Even back in the day Local Halo lobbies with 4 people on the same TV were sweaty lol. Go play Fall guys or something else my guy.
There are players who enjoy FFA. I love FFA, all I mostly play in Halo is FFA and btb. They most certainly should do events for FFA players. FFA players always get the short end of the stick because the majority of the time it’s all about 4v4 games. Not every event will cater to every one.
so what you want is to team up with your friends in a free for all mode ? Like … cant u play any other mode except last spartan standing and rumble pit with your friends?
The problem with these events focused on certain gamemodes is that all the challenges and limited playlist selection is already pretty much forced on you, so it just gets worse.
The game requires more variety, maps, modes and needs to avoid pigeon-holing people into only playing certain things. (Except in quickplay etc., let people queue for whatever game-type they want).
