LOLiving dead and MW3

Is it just me or is loliving dead not nearly as populated as it was before MW3 was released.

It used to be the most popular playlist (pathetic), now it doesn’t have even half of the population of TS.

Coincidence?

I think not…

Finally lol

yes I know infection is land of nubcakes and casuals but why does it matter that nubs left for some CoD?

It seems to be keeping a fairly even proportionality in relation to other playlist player reductions due to current market saturation, with exception to the consistently popular MLG playlist which has remained steady at around 600 Halo fans.

There we 1500 people on MLG just last night. Seriously, Stop lying just because you can not play the playlist.

I was talking about the fans, the other 900 hundred like to bash Reach, its players and any playlist that they dont play.(1500 is not that great either, sorry)

We are the 1%

lololool

but seriously; OBVIOUSLY. There are 100 casuals for every 1 competitive halo player. LD and TS have the largest populations in Reach yet they are by far the stupidest playlist in the game. Not to mention the overwhelming satisfaction with ZB, probably 1/2 of the MLG population is playing ZB customs, and there’s probably plenty more playing Game Battles.

Totally cause the competitive playlist are the only fun video game varients, all others are a waste of our time and hold absolutly no entertainment value for people that want to play a game.(sarcasim)

I have no fun having a guy 4 shots down and myself 3 shots down, him Armour locking and his butt buddy saving him. Or a dude using camo and shotgun in every door way. Norrrr the team of people that just jet pack 100 feet in the air where I can’t see them or know where I am getting shot from. How is that fun? I’m playing a game that was a arena FPS 10 years ago. Not a gimmick fest. The competitive nature made Halo fun, not the annoying BS. Other games like star craft do not have this. They love their competitive community to the point they play every event in bars where football once played! Halo could be that as well but no. All Halo’s casuals just hate that they have a league for no stupid reason. So dumb.

As far as I know living dead does not have AL,but if you are not having fun playing a game, you are doing somthing wrong and attempting to make people feel inferior because they do not play your preferance in said game is a little odd.As to your last point, has it occured to you that the prevalent general attitude of a large portion of competitive players might have somthing to do with the lack of popularity and population in those playlist?Or is that dumb?

No, I am simply pointing out your blind hatred for the same game in your xbox just because people have fun playing on a competitive level.

Oh sweet irony.

Modern Warfare 3 sapped some of the map abusers and hyper-casuals from Living Dead?

Good. One of my biggest worries is that 343 could see a population drop result from improvements to the playlist, and mistake that as the indicator of a mistake rather than a success. That is now less of a concern.

Regarding the emergent side-discussion in this thread:

Some of you seem to be missing the fact that “competitive” and “casual” are not black-and-white categories but rather two opposite ends of a spectrum. The vast majority of gamers in general lie between the two extremes, though I’ll admit that Reach’s community tends markedly toward the latter more than the former.

Reach made the error of appealing to casuals at the expense of not appealing to competitives. However, the solution isn’t to do a heel face turn and appeal only to competitives; the solution is to appeal to the center of the spectrum, at which the majority lies. I do agree that competitive balance is a necessary foundation to appeal to most gamers, but it’s possible to go overboard on competitive design to the point where it’s off-putting to all but the most hardcore gamers. That would kill Halo even more painfully than a 100%-casual design would.

Loss of any population would be of detriment to reach and the attention it gets from 343 which is to say, even if it is the hyper casual that left for MW3,it lowers the population of reach, making it a little less of a priority by whatever incremental value you can place on an individual costomer.Video games are a casual persuit (warning sports analogy impending)as is most sports, but without that starter point the “major leagues” would not exsist or at minimum would not have the same level of play as it would if its players did not participate in their chosen sport from an early age and in a casual setting.
Reach has competitive playlists but it appears that there is not enough playlist or players to satisfy the competitive sect of Halo, which in turn has resulted in a fued, one that plays out on forums and “casual” playlists in the form of a very small segment of the population pointing their fingers at the vast majority and proclaiming “you are the problem”.It is my belief that this may be responsible for a portion of the population exodus, but is the one problem most easily corrected by showing a little courtesy and respect for your fellow gamers and their preferance in gameplay. That might also garner a population increase in the competitive playtypes which would quench the desires of competitive players as they would have what they want most, competition.

I knew it. MW3 = lower casual pop. YAY!

Regardless of one’s feelings a lower population isn’t a good thing.

It doesn’t bother me though as after remaining faithful to Halo and not buying a single COD game in the past I have purchased Modern Warfare 3 as it is a more enjoyable game then what Halo warped into with Reach.

MW3 is poop on the end of a stick being poked in my face from a guy stood just out of my arm and leg reach.

> I knew it. MW3 = lower casual pop. YAY!

If the casual population leaving resulted in Halo not releasing another game would you still be yaying?
