Logic: Objective Carrier Speed

Here is a logic tree:

Premise 1: Reach movement is slower than traditional Halo.

Premise 2: AAs make you move faster.

Premise 3: Objective carrier moves slower.

Premise 4: Objective carrier cannot use AAs.

Conclusion 1: Objective carrier is twice as handicapped as normal.

Conclusion 2: People don’t like to carry the objective b/c they prefer not to be so handicapped.

Resolution: Objective Carrier speed needs to be increased.

Pure Logic

Suggestion: Objective carrier should move at 90%. Non carriers have Sprint, Evade and Jetpack allowing them to cover twice the distance in half the time, essentially four times faster. Keep in mind that it is all to easy to defend when you can catch up to the carrier so quickly.

I played TU Speedflag last night and it was quite enjoyable. Much faster paced (duh) than normal CTF.

Objective players shouldn’t have their movement hindered. They should also not get a bonus to speed.

Being allowed to use certain AAs while holding the objective would have been nicer. The only AA the player shouldn’t be able to use while holding the objective is AL.

Active already alerts the immediate area. Not using active is smarter when one has the objective.
Sprinting, Evading and JPing are functions of thought and not of dexterity for a Spartan. They allow for more unorthodox movements of the objective and allow a reasonable defense against being attacked. I have a short-range weapon and mobility, I am happy.
Hologram won’t help for long, what little help it is. For that, why not allow it to be used by the few that have the imagination to use it?
Drop-shield? Well for that one to be effective, one must stay still won’t they? It’s a delay of death for the carrier and one that should require the enemy to relay the position to, not the dropped objective.
AL, that’s easy. No holding the objective while being temporarily invincible.

Settings can be made so that DS and AL aren’t in an objective game and so AC, JP, Evade and Sprint can be used with “AAs turned on.”

But it’s relative. The objective carrier’s movement speed in Reach is slower than the normal Reach player. You can’t speed up the objective carrier’s speed without also increasing the regular player’s speed as well. The difference between the two must be maintained.

Yes but the objective carrier cannot use AAs which are there to increase the movement speed. 90% is not an unreasonable suggestion given that sprint, evade and jetpack allow the non carrier to cover 2x the distance in half the time(4x faster).

But the AA’s are periodic. They have a time limit over which they are spent. They aren’t a constant speed increase. And that’s only evade and sprint. The others don’t increase your speed.

Sounds good. The one pre-anniversary achievement I have left is the Oddball one, which is near impossible to earn since I move SO slow.

Yeah, speed the carrier up. Especially since Evade is in BTB (not so sure about Objective) and it’s especially easy to avoid and kill the carrier when defending.

What doesn’t help though is that Assault was introduced months after Reach was initially released. No idea where the logic is in that but you still have players that have no idea how to play the gametype. What was Bungie thinking? Or were they? Ah… Rant over.

Fun Fact: Assault in BTB has 100% movement speed for the carrier while CTF does not.

> Fun Fact: Assault in BTB has 100% movement speed for the carrier while CTF does not.

You know I did actually think this before I posted! Haha.

Haven’t played Reach in some time before yesterday though. Clearly it shows.

Plus I didn’t pick up the bomb once…

But I stick with what I said about the carriers that are slower anyway.
