Locust in mass are really hard to counter with units they deal massive amounts of damage to any unit when in mass while their damage to buildings is fine to units it should be reduced just my opinion on them
Locust are the new sentinals. Destroying bases in 15 seconds before u can defend.
Locust are câncer of hw2 kill cyclops, kill aircraft. Kill bases
Yes. They are ridiculous. Especially with Shipmaster.
That is an issue in this game. In Halo Wars 1 the counter units were really effective against what they were countering, but in Halo wars 2 that isn’t really the case. The counter units work ok but honestly they aren’t that great outside of snipers ability to counter infantry. The locusts can easily kill your base even if you have a fleet ready for them. All they need to do is throw Atriox’s invincibility on them and they are good to go
Gauss warthogs are decent against them, haven’t tried Marauders yet. I think just making them slower or making cyclops/hunters faster is what needs to be done
Don’t forget undieing breath which lasts much longer than a breath

Locust, rabbits, tanks , kinsano, marines all fine. How come it’s wine
all the time? Just play the game. Seasons are short rank or levels mean nothing, just play & have fun…

I wouldn’t make cyclops/hunters faster as with the UNSC/Banished raid abilities they are fast enough.
The problem is more generally that there is no reason for locust to be so quick… Or for them to fire on the move really. One or the other.

Can’t have fun when you lose to an unbalanced unit, that players take advantage of. More and more people will do it.
I would say the Locust should not be able to move and shoot with the range it has. That would fix so much of the problem. Anything with that type of range especially the range of the Kodiak should be not be mobile.
I recommend ultimate abilities if you have them. Otherwise try boxing them in with anti-vehicle+first vehicle (Cyclops/Hunter and Hog/Marauder). Very hard to kill, but still possible.
I just finished watching a champion Shipmaster on Twitch and the only games he got were Kinsano JR rush or Atriox/Shipmaster Locust horde.
When a game revolves around only 2 strategies, you know that there is something wrong.
The best part was he lost to all games against Kinsano JR rush. So until it gets fixed you know what the OP strat is for Locusts.

It’s easier to have fun when things are balanced.
I was one of those people that did shipmaster Locust rush before the complaint. I figured it out on my own and I learned that while they can destroy a bas and a half, the whole army of Locust would get demolished due to enemy counter uniting. Locust are glass cannons and can easily be destroyed with leader powers. Mac blast, sentinel beacon, scatter bombs, eradication. Any of those will destroy a Locust army. And Locust destroy bases super quick because guess what, that’s their thing. They are building killers. If you threw a whole army of waiths at infantry the infantry is going to disappear quickly.

Done correctly (moving and kiting to stay out of range while inflicting damage) they can only get destroyed by a very concentrated effort and coordinating between teammates. Single player you have no one to help box the enemy locusts in. If you have to dump all of your attention into stopping the existing locusts on the map (via coordinating, building counter units and positioning correctly, dropping leader powers) the locust player will have you on the ropes because he has blown a hole in your entire economy. Couple that with the fact that the locust player is either sitting on a pile of resources because it took you 3-4 minutes to push him back and start rebuilding, or he has another army to back him up… oh… and that player has leader powers of his own and usually total map control at this point. Yes, it is difficult to overcome when done correctly. Is it possible to overcome? Yes, but it typically requires the locust player to make a series of mistakes. If done correctly, it is game over. Doing it correctly is not hard… it requires you to constantly move your locusts to places where they can not be boxed in, and doing drivebys of bases… by the time you move around the base with a ball of locusts, that base should be dead.
So I should this a call for a nerf? Because it needs to be a call for a nerf.
The simplest and most balancing fix would be to make them have to be stationary to fire. Either that or make it where if they are mobile, they incur a massive dps nerf. I thought that the HW1 Locusts were perfect. They were powerful units vs bases, but only if the overdrive ability was used (traded shield for dps).

Agreed.
