Looking at the Halo 5 cover art, one of the Spartans is assumed to be Edward Buck because of the ODST armor the Spartan is wearing. As for the other two, they are also assumed to be Romeo and Talitha Macer.
Who do you guys think they are?
I’m guessing that one of the Spartans is Buck. As for the other two, I think they are Spartans Tom-B292 and Lucy-B091 of the Spartan-III program.
It is most likely Buck, Macer, and Tanaka. I think it is unlikely to be Tom or Lucy.
to be honest, I could care less about locke, much less his spartans(odds are their probably ONI agents as well). Locke is a character created to be hated, 343 has done a wonderful job of doing that. I hope he dies during the course of Halo 5 and be forgotten for eternity.

I see someone didn’t like Nightfall… I personally love Locke, and while I won’t readily say that Locke is going to replace the Master Chief as some people on the Locke train are saying, I believe that Locke is just one more character they are trying to use to further expand the Halo universe’s characters, much like how Palmer, Majestic Team, Jul’Mdama, Laskey, and others are helping to fill in for characters we have lost along the way.
Also, bud if you don’t care about Halo’s story being good, then please don’t bother speaking about something being bad. We have seen from Halo beforehand a some falters in the terms of their stories, but overall they have given us some of the best stories to play through in FPS’s. Give Locke a shot, I’m not saying stop loving Chief, but remove that narrow minded part of your brain we call being a bigot.

Halo has a really good story, thats the best part of it and what keeps people coming back. Nightfall is not one of them. from the poor and predictable plot, to the less than B list actors, the show really fell short of what came before.
Locke could never replace the chief, halo would die overnight if that were the case.
Do you think it is more likely we will get confirmation on the identities of his team members at E3 or before?

I agree 90%. Nightfall wasn’t well received, and while I enjoyed “Forward Unto Dawn” more, Nightfall did give me a few things that I looked back at not having though it would go that way. (Call me a sucker, it’s likely true). At the same time, I appreciated Laskey enough that when “Forward Unto Dawn” wasn’t seen as amazing either, I didn’t hold it against him.
My hope for Locke, is that he will effectively be another Arbiter from Halo 2. He hopefully will be a new main character (associating Arbiter as a main character as well). I think and hope that what we see, is with the understanding that Halo 5 deals with what happens before, or during the expansion of chaos in the Halo universe of the Insurrectionists rising back up, the Storm faction of the Covenant bolsters by new forerunner tech, and ONI seeming to love to smother little puppies in the night… I think we will see all sides become less black and white and a lot more gray.
I see the three main characters also as symbols of these 3 factions. Locke as a part of ONI, Arbiter being at one point of the Covenant, and Chief, who is now seen more as an issue, and could be looked at a bit more like an insurrectionist. I WANT Locke to do well, and I don’t need people to fall in love with him and replace chief, but I want people to be prepared for another Arbiter to hit the scene.

I could not see Buck and Romeo splitting after the events of New Blood, they’re even closer battle bros.

Don’t hold your breath. Asking for another thel vadamee is like asking for another chief, It simply doesn’t happen. Locke really isn’t anything special, not like chief and thel are. Thus far Locke is turning into a villain, a puppet of ONI. And as everyone knows: ONI = pure evil

But we have played with 2 characters prior to Locke who were at one point ONI. We played as Dare in Halo 3 ODST, and we played as Noble 6, who was a member of ONI prior to Noble. We also know that Buck works heavily with ONI. You can claim that anyone that is ONI is evil, but you could also have said the same about anyone working for the Covenant a few games ago.
From what we know of Locke thus far, is that he shows a semblance of good character from what we saw on Nightfall, and what we have seen in cutscenes via the Master Chief Collection. You can hate ONI, and I’m fine with that, but don’t associate that Locke is evil, just because he works for them.

Yet you felt the need to post in a thread about them. rolls eyes
Anyway, pertaining to the topic the Spartans are probably Buck, Macer, and Tanaka.

The problem I have with that, is that I feel like Buck and Romeo would stay together… I feel adamant that Buck is in the game, and Macer would be a likely choice as well. Regretfully I know next to nothing about Tanaka, and I’m currently working to fix that issues right now!
EDIT: Okay, I feel very stupid here, but why is Tanaka such a valid option for the final member of Locke’s team?
Buck and Tanaka are sure bets. The last one could be Macer, Romeo, Thorne or even a new character. I hope it’s Macer.

Why. Buck clearly wanted nothing to do with alpha 9 and anyone involved with it by the end of the book.

Mostly because she a New character so close to the game and someone had found her new attached to a halo 5 voice actor or something.

That’s not true.
We have several examples of good ONI people. Dare. Haverson. Halsey.
Nightfall showed that Locke can be good too.
343i etting Locke up as a villain doesn’t mean he is one. We don’t know anything about why Chief is being hunted and who we should be rooting for.
I know it’s very unlikely since he’s leading Majestic Team, but imagine if Thorne joined Locke’s team?
Not sure why people are hating on Locke. Like JSA said, we don’t know why Chief is being hunted. Maybe he did something incredibly damaging to the UNSC? Maybe he is now on Halsey/Jul’s side (for Cortana). Maybe this, maybe that. WE DON’T KNOW, yet
Also, my money is Buck is on Lockes team.
And my anticipation is through the roof.

Locke probably doesn’t know that ONI is bad.
so I’m guessing after a few hostile encounters, they will become allies.
its like this, would you call yourself an idiot when you were 5 for believing in Santa?

Two fold:
- she has a two issue arc in Halo Escalation (part one is out now), which would be odd if 343 didn’t have plans for her
- way back in September, imdb had a character listed as Spartan Tanaka with the actress attached. It was removed fairly quickly, but someone getting the name and roe of a character that far in advance? too on e nose.
