Locke voice actor replacement means he's going

I’ve just found out that mike colter has been replaced as voice actor for Locke, I’ve never been sold by the character as have a lot of fans I speak to.

im thinking now if he not intended to die in halo 5 how can he realistically stay in games looking like colter?

I would have preferred Palmer, Arbiter, Buck, Thorne or Jun to Locke as Osiris fire team leader. maybe that will now happen?

Yeah, he can stay in the games looking like Mike Colter. The only reason Mike isn’t providing a voice is because he is busy being Luke Cage for Marvel.

A really good question.
I would think they might just reuse his face scans and have someone with similar facial structure do the mo-cap. My best guess.

I highly doubt they would spend this marketing campaign buffing Locke as Chief’s capable hunter adversary to write him off.
I could see Locke sacrificing himself for Chief though, but I still think it’s unlikely.

^basically this. He could be back, but it’s to say if he will die or not.

They can just continue to use the colter model they have, and continue to use the current voice actor…

its not really complicated… You don’t have to look like the character you do mocap for…

It seems the decision was made by the director because Colter’s voice did not fit what they wanted to convey with Locke’s character combined with Colter having another project that interfered with coming in to do voice overs. But I don’t think it means that in the future he won’t be available to do mo-capping for the next Halo game. So I don’t think we can declare Locke a dead man just yet.

I could barely tell the difference. They both got deep voices.

They wouldn’t have hired colter if they didn’t like his voice. Surely they tried him out before selecting him.

he just couldn’t commit to the schedule with his new Marvel gig.

I know Locke is pretty unpopular, but I like him. I hope he sticks around.

Why do they need to kill him? Colter provided the face, and Amadi the voice. There’s no reason that can’t continue.

No reason that the face model and voice actor have to be the same person. Look at Commander Shepard. Different VA and model.

Or even all of Halo 2 Anniversary … the voice work was done a decade before the motion capture.

So anyone got details about this on why they did it or a tweet or something?
