Locke is searching for something Chief has.

My theory came from some of the things the Arbiter has said when talking to Locke. First him being a “hunter” then of him being like him, a “seeker of things.” Well what was the Arbiter seeking in his time? It wasn’t necessarily a person but something else. My idea is that Locke is searching for something in Chiefs’ possession, maybe Locke is searching for some knowledge Chief knows about the Forerunners that he found.

This to me makes much more sense and clarifies why it isn’t black and white on what Locke is planning to do to Chief because Locke isn’t really looking for him just to find him but probably because of something he has. If Chief gives it up to Locke when they encounter each other than there is no conflict, but if Chief refuses… well then that would lead to MANY issue considering the kind of person Locke is. Locke doesn’t want to fail but he also wants to know the truth of or behind something which may or not make him be on Master Chiefs’ side later on.

So I am pretty sure of my theory so assuming it’s true, what does Chief have that Locke could want?

Thoughts?

Probably Cortana’s remnants, given she was the only AI formed from a living clone and performed above and beyond the given expectations. All the Forerunner knowledge they could get from him was done during his debrief

It’s definitely not Cortana. Why? Because she doesn’t exist anymore. Chief and presumably Blue Team have gone rogue as Chief believes that his commanding officers are no longer competent enough to see the true threat, and so he has gone off on his own to deal with it. And now the galaxy is facing a far greater threat, one that is connected to him and him alone, and that is why Locke is searching for Chief. I mean really, they practically spell it out for you in the Master Chief Collection E3 trailer.

“You are a hunter, yes? A seeker of things?”
“That’s not the job title, but close enough.”
“And now you hunt other Spartans?”
“I’m not hunting other Spartans as much as I’m hunting THE Spartan.”

Extra dialogue. Basically proves nothing other than Locke is looking for Chief, which we already know.

Do you guys remember when the Librarian gave something to Chief? the immunity from being composed? maybe that is why Locke is searching for Chief. Although I doubt ONI would know about that since no UNSC personnel was actually present during the Librarian encounter.
