It’s just something that is characteristically Halo, that the main playable character doesn’t have a face to their name. He’s all right as a secondary character like the Arbiter in Halo 2 or the other members of the ODST team in ODST. But Master Chief, Noble 6, and the Rookie did not have a face, so that they could be whoever you wanted them to be. If the Master Chief has to end, we’ll need a new main character, because we already know who Locke is.
I hope I made my point clear and you know what I mean.

I get u and understand your points but that is only going off of main games and its silly that the main character should only be a faceless protagonist don’t u think
Actually I never thought about it from this perspective. But sadly, I can’t see a way for them to incorporate a character into the series without ever showing his face
I understand what your getting at OP, but lotsof games do ok with actual fleshed out characters as the protagonist.
As time goes by, the Chief is getting more and more fleshed out anyway.
Must not have a personality (silent 99% of the time) - Must not have a face (instead, have a helmet under their helmet)This sounds so ridiculous on paper it’s funny. No offense, OP. I just couldn’t help but giggle a little at this idea.
