Locke and Osiris' role

Master Chief is going to be the main focus of Infinite, front and center. For Halo 5, Locke and Osiris got a ton of focus, taking up most gameplay and screen time. With Infinite, how big or small of a role do you think Locke and the rest of Osiris will have?

Depends on the story. Locke and Osiris completed their mission in Halo 5. That mission was to retrieve Chief and return him to Dr. Halsey.

Now we focus back on chief to finish his story.

Good point on Locke and Osiris. However, why did you say we’ll finish Chief’s story? Nothing from 343 or Microsoft has said this is the final game for Chief.

I hope to see something about Osiris. Each member is pretty BA, but Osiris was unfortunately written very poorly in H5 (along with almost everyone else except Exuberant lol). Obviously, I‘d like the focus to remain on Chief, but having them as secondary characters who maybe support his mission or something could be interesting.

But, that’s what I’d like. Since Infinite is a “spiritual reboot,” I think Osiris’s role will be minimal or nonexistent. Plus, I get the feeling 343i wants to distance themselves from H5’s campaign as best they can. That’s not a bad thing in the slightest since Chief stories are what made Halo’s campaigns so great in the past.

What I’m really hoping for is that Infinity will split up the teams to go and do separate missions to try and find ways to stop the Guardians, like in Bad Blood. We’ll obviously only play Chief’s missions (hopefully Blue Team is included as well) and maybe we can get a cutscene briefing everybody on their missions so we know what Locke and the others are up to, just not actually playing it. Then at the end once they’ve found a solution they all team up Avengers style (with Red team from Halo Wars ideally) and charge into battle. That last part went off the rails I know but a guy can dream.

I have no idea honestly, if past experience tells me anything 343 is more than willing to just sweep them under the rug and pretend they don’t exist, which would be a shame. I would hope they continue to have some role in the games and universe going forward.

Osiris had potential, I just wish they had been used better. I like to imagine a world where Locke, Vale, and Tanaka had been on Majestic with Thorne from the beginning in H4 instead the memorable characters of um… that one person, the other one, whatsherface, and the one that died… Imagine if we had all of Spartan Ops at the very least to get to know them before they took the lead role. It would have certainly been better than just ending up with some random spartans(unless you read a comic, a novel, and saw a movie) plus Buck who’s only reason for being on the team was marketability.

Being an ODST junkie, I love Buck. I hope we get to see him as a side story. Locke is pretty cool too, but not as much at Buck. The rest of Osiris are forgettable, however, if they wish to expand on them that is fine. I do not dislike them either. As long as MC gets the main focus and most of the screen time (with Blue team) then I will be ok.

Hoya,grant,DeMarco,and Madsen

Im just hoping it’s minimal, maybe not just throw them away as with Jul but just keep the main focus on Chief.

I also doubt devs/publishers would be crazy enough to put heavy weight on Osiris given it was introduced in a rock bottom of a campaign in the franchise which could carry a bad taste in Infinite even though it’s its own installment alltogether.

What if at the end of Infinite a time portal opens up then Wash, Carolina, the Reds and the Blues come out of it with Sarge yelling “I heard you have an AI problem”, Grif says “What more AI’s? Damn they are so annoying, how about we just leave?” and Tucker gets a look at Cortona and says “Hey this one is a chick with no clothes, Bow-chicka-Bow wow!

Well, it would be an improvement on the H5 story.

Sorry! Not to be misleading. I mean finish Chief’s story as in continue on as Master Chief. However, closure will happen for Chief and Cortana at some point…

I agree. I don’t know why they just have to trash something because they want to go another way. All the Jul build up and then…dumped. Would have been better to stick with him than go the lazy way with evil Cortana.

Maybe they can be in a campaing expansión as a playable characters

Honestly, even if they forgot about Osiris, it wouldn’t affect me one bit.

Given that for the most part people did not like halo 5 I’m betting we will see them in the background getting sent to do other things not part of the main story

Agreed, I had looked forward to playing Buck, but even he wasent written very well.

It would still be cool to see them, but I wouldn’t want them being an integral part of the story. Except, maybe, if they get into trouble and the chief has to come save them, and shows them what a S-II can ACTUALLY do.

Halo Infinite should definitely come back to things like those Halo 4 side missions you could do. Community as far as I know did not like Spartan Ops, but the idea of little missions to do as well (especially if, given I think Halo Infinite will have a pretty long life cycle, they’re added to freely) will generally add a great new thing to do. You could play as Locke and the others for some of them, multiplayer spartans for the others, maybe even Elites and some other things. Non-Campaign missions to do are easy ways to spice it up.

Well the thing about the spartan ops is that it was like 343 trying to control the experience instead of let the creativity of the community make the experience. Now I played Spartan Ops the wrong way, solo. However in playing that way running through one level then within the net season going through that same level but backwards the thought sprung to my head why not just give us these maps in forge? All we were missing was NPC spawns and a few triggers. But yeah especially with Valhalla being used as a Spartan Ops map. Heck I am sure if there were enemy spawns in Reach’s forge Forge world would have had some very interesting custom campaign levels in it.

I always wanted Spartan Ops to be completely random. Something like Diablo 3’s end game. Randomly regenerated levels that can be done solo or co op. Spartan Ops was a missed opportunity imo. Imagine going into a random situation not knowing what the level was like. Requisitions could be called in too.

As for Locke and Osiris ? I’m not that fussed, the only character I’m interested in apart from Chief is 343 Exuberant, she was a breath of fresh air imo, and one I can see evolving over time.

I dont think the game developers know what their roles are lol.
