When the new Dominion update came out, as many of you probably already know, 343i have added a new game-type called Lockdown. Recently me and 5 other friends (and friends of friends) have been playing Lockdown as a group, we have even created our own load-outs to specifically play on Lockdown. Out of the roughly 25 matches of Lockdown we have played so far, we have won roughly 20 of them. We are all also mainly forgers, not hardcore competitive players so we are not the best.
The main reason though I am making this post is because of how BROKEN Lockdown is; The three map options are Exile, Vortex and Longbow.
First I will start with Exile. While Exile is the least broken of the three it still has a few problems. 1 thing that gives a quite unfair advantage is the fusion coil in B base. While most of you probably think ‘Oh fusion coils are absolutely useless’ In most cases I would agree with you, but here it gives the red team a big advantage as the blue team has to push up right next to it and nearly every time, at least 3 blue team members will die initially because of the fusion coil when they first push up.
Secondly for Exile, giving Red team an even bigger advantage is the spawning. While the Blue team mainly only spawns by the old tank spawn, red team gets to spawn in the more open side giving them a great view of the base as well as a Rocket launcher on the banshee spawn.
Next is Vortex, which also has a few little problems. The weapon spawns for Vortex are an initial Sword and Incineration cannon which are very bad for gameplay and are far too OP when both are being held at once inside the base. The next problem which has occurred twice so far to me is, while blue team will always initially spawn at Base A (from regular Dominion) red team will not always spawn at C base as they should, but occasionally spawn at the BTIS red team spawns giving them a further distance from the base as well as giving them direct access to the energy sword. The final problem is with the back man-cannon lift going into the base which has an extra neutral base shield meaning the attacking team will have to shoot through 2 layers of base shields and the defending team to have to also break a shield.
Lastly is Longbow which is, BY FAR the most broken of the three maps. Firstly, there should be a rocket launcher that spawns by the beach area that doesn’t actually spawn and next is the main problem, the gameplay. The gameplay for this map is HORRENDOUS in which, 99.99% of the time, the first team to capture the base will ALWAYS win making it an extremely bad map for this game-type. My only suggestion for this map is to completely remove it from this game-type because there is no way at all I can think of, that can save this map (and remember I’m a pretty good serious forger).
Now I will just say a few of my ideas to make this game-type better. For a starter, there should be preset load-outs with NO grenades due to the fact, at the moment Lockdown is probably the closest thing in Halo 4 you can get to a pure grenade-spamming-fest. I have had lots of times where the frame-rate will drop significantly just because of how many grenades there are all exploding at once, it is ruining the game-type at the moment.
Second 343i needs to start taking in forge maps specifically built for Lockdown with a map revolving around 1 center base that is quite large and is very well planned out, at the moment there isn’t really even enough maps especially if they take out Longbow.
