Local Split Screen Gone!

I am fully aware that this will probably never be read, and if it is for some reason, there won’t be any change… But, I am going to feel better having written it, so there’s that…

I am part of the Halo generation. I remember saving up for my first Xbox console specifically so that I could experience Halo, and how amazing it felt when I played it for the first time with friends. This experience was carried on for years, as new versions were released, and I enjoyed countless nights with a few cold beers and some missions on Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, ODST, Reach, Halo 4, etc… One of the biggest fans of this time together was actually my wife! She looked at it as her cool contribution to together time, and genuinely enjoyed the experience.

That’s why this most recent installment is so PAINFUL! My wife snuck out and purchased a copy for me while I was at work. She even installed it on the Xbox for me so that we could enjoy it together without waiting once I got home. We had dinner, put the kids to bed, and got all cozy with the intention of blasting some covenant together… And then… WHAT!?! No Coop!?!

This is certainly my fault, because I work a ton of hours and I didn’t research the game prior to warn her about the catastrophically idiotic move to remove split screen coop from a game that has had this amazing feature in every installment since it’s original release… Now she is visibly upset and won’t even take turns playing.

I felt so bad, that I actually entertained the idea of purchasing another console so that we could actually play the game together. Then reality/common sense kicked in and I decided that I will not spend more money supporting this product. Apparently these folks think that everyone is rich and/or don’t want to sit next to each other and enjoy the game. FYI, this BS isn’t worth 60fps.

My wife and I will be looking forward to some of the other titles that are set to be launched soon WITH split screen functionality.

Great job destroying a storied franchise and giving all of the loyal fans the middle finger at the same time!

Most people here already knew about this, and have since coped. You’l be alright…eventually. It bummed me out too.

It was announced that there would be no split-screen ages ago, and it even says so on the box. The reasons for it’s removal are said to be issues that (when running local co-op) the game frame rate drops to a literally unplayable state. If split-screen was in the game, you wouldn’t have a good time playing it.

You have only yourself to blame. You even admitted you did no research beforehand.

At least you know you didnt do research about your next gaming purchase… so many new threads about split screen are barely even self aware, let alone make informed decisions.

Its not your fault its 343s, no one should have had to research if the game would have split-screen or not. Its been in part of the series in the exact same form for the last 14 years and nine titles, no one could have been reasonably expected to think 5 would be any different. Just like I wouldn’t expect to have to research if the game would have editable custom game options, though my understanding is they have been nerfed a bit as well…

As a loyal Halo fan from the beginning I don’t think they gave us the middle finger. It’s even better now that I don’t have to deal with my screen cheating friends
