Ok, here we go. I know there had been numerous Threads about this topic. And I read some of them. But until now I didn’t get a satisfying answere to the question, why there is no local co-op? Can anyone tell me?
-Yoink- like “people have busy lifes and don’t have time to meet up in real life and xbox live is just so great that we don’t need local co-op” is just wrong!!
In the months before Halo 5, I played the MCC with my friends, all campaigns and multiplayer at my home, in local co-op. We had a really great time with food and some beers and trashtalk. Everything that made our childhood expirience (except the beer
) with Halo so great until now!
I want that back! We want that back!
I don’t want to set up 4 TV’s, xbones, just to play with my friends at the same place. This sucks!
So this brings me to my last question, is there any hope or possibility that 343 will bring back local co-op?
(Sorry for my bad english, not my native language)

Your English is just fine.
In all honesty, splitscreen will likely not be put into Halo 5. They designed the engine to specifically run at a constant (or very nearly constant) 60 frames per second. In order to meet that requirement, they had to sacrifice a few things, not least of which was splitscreen.
Now I’m sure 343’s metrics are correct; chances are the vast majority of people don’t use splitscreen (I never have, for instance.) However, this has been part of the “Halo experience” for many people over the years, and even if they do represent the minority, it’s a very passionate and vocal minority that 343 may not want to overlook for future Halo installments.
So short answer: no for Halo 5, maybe for Halo 6 and beyond.
@StarGeezerTim
Thank you very much for your answer.
I really do hope that they’ll bring back local co-op in future Halo games!
You’re quite welcome, DjorbaS. I hope they put it in as well, even if I never use it, simply for the folks who enjoy sitting together and playing (and of course, drinking beer! Let’s not forget that part!
)
This isn’t fact but my personal opinion. I believe that with the 60fps and having ai Spartans in the campaign with split screen coop there isn’t enough processing power to run all that is going on without being connected to live… So since they can get more processing power out of being online they can’t really implement something that people will play offline if it won’t work right… If you think 60fps isn’t a big deal play halo all day and at the end of the day switch to a 30fps game and it will look so choppy its crazy how we ever dealt with 30fps
Ojalá saquen un parche donde se pueda jugar de 2 en local en mi opinión siento que no era necesario quitarlo yo no veo que se aprecie más los gráficos del halo 5 a diferencia del 4 veo un 10%
